The continuous beam of the grand bridge on the Mengxi-Huazhong Railway crossing the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, built by China Railway 16th Bureau Group, successfully rotated to the designed alignment on the 23rd, completing the rotation construction and creating favorable conditions for opening to traffic by the end of 2019.
According to reports, the Mengxi-Huazhong Railway has a total length of 1,837 kilometers, starting from Haolebaoji Station in Inner Mongolia in the north and ending in Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province. It is a new national strategic transport corridor for “transporting coal from north to south.” Among the works, China Railway 16th Bureau Group undertook Section 26 of the Mengxi-Huazhong Railway. The rotated structure weighed 2,336 tons and was 62 meters long, crossing the busy Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway trunk line, involving high safety risks, great technical difficulty and heavy construction tasks. Liu Bin, project manager of Section 26 of the Mengxi-Huazhong Railway under China Railway 16th Bureau Group, said: “The project department followed the pier-top rotation construction method and strictly controlled the process flow, ensuring that the construction safety and quality of the rotated continuous beam were controllable. The continuous beam rotation construction method is a commonly used approach when a railway crosses an existing line. Before the beam is rotated, it neither affects the normal operation of the existing line nor maximizes the reduction of the impact of the construction stage on the existing line.”
