The reporter recently learned from the National Geological Archives that since 2012, the National Geological Archives has intensified the development of geological achievement data, providing online and offline services through confidentiality technology processing. Various public version data products have exceeded 8,000 sheets, covering different scales such as 1:500,000, 1:200,000, and 1:50,000, forming a complete public service product system and laying the foundation for quickly transforming geological survey results into productive forces.
It is reported that the national basic, public welfare, and strategic geological survey and mineral exploration work deployed and organized by the China Geological Survey has produced a large amount of basic geological information data that can serve national economic and social development. However, according to confidentiality regulations, most of these results cannot be directly provided to users, greatly affecting the scope of socialized services of geological achievement data. To solve this problem, since 2012, the National Geological Archives has researched and developed relevant processing schemes and technical software, deleted confidential geographic information as required, and after review by the confidentiality committee of the collection institution, formed geological data achievement products that can be publicly provided to society.
The launch of public version geological data products has greatly enhanced the service capacity of geological survey results for economic and social development. According to statistics, at present, the National Geological Archives receives more than 1,500 visitors annually, and online services are increasing rapidly at an annual growth rate of 300%. In 2016, the online visits to the special column of the National Geological Archives reached 1.5 million, and from January to June 2017, the online visits have reached 1 million.
On this basis, the National Geological Archives also develops various thematic products by mining cultural and historical information from historical geological data. In 2015 and 2016 alone, the National Geological Archives successfully held several historical exhibitions, including the "Exhibition of Geological and Mineral Historical Materials Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War," the "Exhibition of Internship Reports of the First Batch of Chinese Geology Students on the 100th Anniversary of Their Graduation," and the "Centennial Geological Map Art Exhibition," promoting the mining and utilization of geological data.
