The EPC project for the north extension of Xingang Avenue in Huangshi, Hubei, is located in the Huangshi Xingang (Logistics) Industrial Park. It starts at the Qipan Road Xingang Avenue Viaduct, intersects at grade with Shengli Street, and then crosses the original Daye River channel and the Xingang Freight Railway by bridge, ending at Huangshi Avenue. The total length is 3.44 km, including a 290 m cable-stayed main bridge over the Daye River, a 1903 m north approach bridge, and a 1251 m Jiangbei approach bridge, with a total investment of nearly 1 billion yuan. Upon completion, the project will help build a rapid transportation system to and from the Huangshi Xingang Industrial Park, expand the park's urban framework, and improve the park's environment. The project is general-contracted by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Second Company, with Wuhan Lecheng Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. responsible for pile foundation construction. The main pier bored piles have a diameter of Φ2.2 m, a pile length of 75-78 m (hole depth 83-85 m), and rock socket depth of 50-55 m, with slightly weathered sandstone strength up to 85 MPa. The project features large hole depths, extensive rock socketing, a tight schedule, and heavy tasks; other construction methods cannot meet the schedule requirements. Wuhan Lecheng Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. adopted the Bauer BG 38 rotary drilling rig, using two-stage drilling with Φ1.6 m and Φ2.2 m, successfully overcoming various construction difficulties. The shortest single-pile drilling time was 5 days, and the longest was 15 days. Within the scheduled period, all 19 ultra-deep piles were successfully completed in one go. The Bauer BG 38 rotary drilling rig is a classic model widely used in China. Equipped with a 4-layer interlocking Kelly bar, it can drill up to over 90 m in diameter of 2 m; with a 3-layer interlocking Kelly bar, it can drill up to 70 m in diameter of 3 m. Since its launch, the Bauer BG 38 rig has performed excellently at various super-large and ultra-deep pile construction sites domestically and abroad. In 2014, it participated in the construction of the Hanjiang Bridge in Shiyan, Hubei, drilling 73 m deep, 2.5 m diameter bridge piles, embedded in 50 m deep conglomerate with strength up to 30-50 MPa, achieving an average rock drilling efficiency of 3.5-3.9 m³/hour. During 4 months of continuous day-and-night construction, it maintained a low failure rate and stable, efficient rock drilling speed, ensuring early completion of the project. It is precisely the outstanding performance of the Bauer BG 38 rotary drilling rig in pile foundation construction at home and abroad that earned it the 2015 China Construction Machinery TOP 50 Annual Product Award shortly after its launch. Since then, more and more users have chosen the Bauer BG 38 rig and used it to continuously push the limits of pile foundation construction. In this construction of the Huangshi Xingang Avenue North Extension EPC project, the BG 38 rotary drilling rig, facing the adverse environmental conditions of hard geology, complex working conditions, and extreme difficulty in Hubei, fully demonstrated its superior characteristics of stable construction, powerful drilling, green energy saving, safety, and high efficiency. It smoothly carried out bored pile construction with large diameters and depths, and the verticality of each pile met the requirements, with all reinforcement cages successfully lowered in one go. The Huangshi Xingang Avenue North Extension EPC project has a construction mileage of 3.44 km, with a main line of two-way 6 lanes. Upon completion, it will improve the transportation system of the Xingang Qipanzhou Port Area, open up a fast channel to and from the park, and expand the park's urban framework. It is an important support for Huangshi City to rely on the Yangtze River golden waterway, build an important strategic node city of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and become a large city in eastern Hubei. The Bauer BG 38 rotary drilling rig provided a reliable guarantee for the timely opening of this significant project.
