In recent days, the Qianye Caochang Wind Farm in Shizhu County, Chongqing, is under intensive construction. This is the third wind farm in Shizhu County, following the completion and operation of the Shiziping Wind Farm and the Dabaoliang Wind Farm. Recently, the author saw in Fangdou Village, Daxie Town, Shizhu County, that 15 wind turbines have been erected on the top of the towering Fangdou Mountain, and workers are conducting power generation debugging.
Fangdou Mountain is located at the junction of Fengdu, Shizhu, and Zhongxian counties, with an average altitude of 1,200 meters and a distinct vertical climate. The average annual temperature is 12°C-16°C, making it one of the locations with the most abundant wind resources in Shizhu County. The rich wind resources provide power support for the operation of the wind farm.
It is understood that the Qianye Caochang Wind Farm project has a total investment of 300 million yuan and is designed with 30 wind turbines. 15 have been installed so far, and the project is expected to be completed and put into use in April 2018. The wind turbine units have a single capacity of 2,000 kilowatts, with a total installed capacity of 60,000 kilowatts. The expected annual on-grid electricity generation is 130 million kilowatt-hours, which can supply electricity for 100,000 households for a year.
“After the wind power project is completed, it will help boost regional economic and social development, improve the regional energy structure, and alleviate regional energy shortages and power supply pressure.” said the relevant person in charge of the Qianye Caochang Wind Farm project.
