On the morning of January 10, the main structure foundation pit excavation began at Wujindi Highway Station of Section 2 of Wuhan Metro Line 5, making it the first station among the four sections of the entire line to start main structure foundation pit excavation.
Wujindi Highway Station of Section 2 of the Wuhan Rail Transit Line 5 project is an underground two-level island-type station. The station main structure is a box-frame structure composed of side walls, beams, slabs, columns and other components, with a longitudinal beam system arranged along the station. The station has a total of 3 entrances and exits (plus 1 reserved entrance/exit), 3 groups of ventilation shafts, and 1 emergency exit. The main structure foundation pit of Wujindi Highway Station is 207.9 meters long and 19.1 to 27.1 meters wide, with an excavation depth of 15.2 to 18.2 meters and a cover soil thickness of 1.9 to 2.9 meters. The designed earthwork volume is 75,000 cubic meters.
The main foundation pit of Wujindi Highway Station is classified as Grade I in importance. The site is in a karst distribution area covered by Holocene sand layers, located on a Grade I terrace. In this area, karst water is recharged by downward seepage of confined water in the pores of the overlying sand layer, and the pore confined water stored in the sand layer has a close hydraulic connection with the Yangtze River.
Since the start of construction at Wujindi Highway Station, the construction unit has carried out scientific construction, strictly screened the construction teams, repeatedly studied and demonstrated the construction plans, and overcome various difficulties such as the complex burial of various pipelines at the construction site, the great difficulty of relocation, and the narrow construction site. Using the limited on-site resources and construction working conditions, it organized and arranged work scientifically and reasonably, and in early December took the lead across the entire line in completing the station enclosure structure construction. To ensure the milestone schedule of the main structure construction, the project department actively cooperated with the owner, coordinated relations with various local parties, overcame numerous difficulties, assisted power, telecommunications, municipal and other units in pipeline relocation, and tried every possible means to create conditions for foundation pit excavation operations. The construction unit broke down the construction plan into daily tasks and implemented them strictly, greatly improving construction production efficiency.
