Tunneling begins on Daiyun Mountain No. 1 Tunnel
According to reports, the Xingquan Railway has a total length of 498.8 kilometers and is designed as a national Class I electrified railway for both passenger and freight traffic, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour and a total project investment of approximately 51.5 billion yuan. Among this, the 302-kilometer section running from Ninghua to Quanzhou through southwestern Fujian passes through prefecture-level cities including Sanming and Quanzhou, and will end the history of no railway access for several counties along the route, including Datian, Dehua and Yongchun.
As the eastern extension of the Menghua Railway from Inner Mongolia to Jiangxi, the Xingquan Railway connects the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, the Yingtan-Xiamen Railway and Quanzhou Port. It is a high-capacity rapid corridor linking the West Taiwan Strait Economic Zone with inland regions. Once the entire line is completed and opened to traffic in 2021, it will form an important trunk line for railway freight transport from Quanzhou Port to the inland.
