On December 28, 2017, the "Peony No. 2" shield tunneling machine, specially developed by CITIC Railway Construction Heavy Industry Tunneling Equipment Co., Ltd. for Luoyang Metro Line 1, completed factory acceptance and delivery at the Yibin High-end Manufacturing Industrial Park.
The "Peony No. 2" shield tunneling machine has a diameter of 6.4 meters, an overall length of about 85 meters, a total weight of about 450 tons, and a horizontal turning radius of 250 meters. It will be used for the tunneling construction of the section from Shijiawan to Yangwan on Metro Line 1. In addition, the connecting bridge, backup trailer, middle shield, front shield, and cutterhead of the "Peony No. 3" shield tunneling machine have all been transported to the Yibin High-end Manufacturing Industrial Park. Assembly of the backup trailer and related hydraulic and electrical components is currently underway, and full final assembly is expected to be completed in mid-January 2018.
It is reported that the company is also responsible for the production of the shield body, cutterhead, and backup trailer for the "Peony No. 4-9" shield tunneling machines. Among them, production of key components such as the shield body, backup trailer, and cutterhead for Peony No. 4 is more than 60% complete. The shield body is expected to be ready for sandblasting before January 3, 2018 and enter the processing stage, while welding of backup trailers No. 1-4 has been completed and sandblasting and painting have begun. Final assembly of Peony No. 4 will also begin before the Spring Festival.
