The Heilongjiang Geological Society, founded in 1960, is an influential social organization in the province. Li Yuyan emphasized that currently, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. Geological work must conform to the new era, establish new concepts, and all work of the Geological Society must also have new ideas, new measures, and new atmospheres to meet new demands and promote new development. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China profoundly expounded on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, put forward a series of important expositions such as adhering to the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, and made comprehensive arrangements for "accelerating the reform of the ecological civilization system and building a beautiful China," pointing out the direction and putting forward requirements for geological work. The service space of geological work is broader, the new connotation of geological work is richer, the Party building in the geological industry is more important, and geological work has a new positioning in the overall development of the Party and the country. It must take the lead and play the main role in the construction of ecological civilization, protect the ecological environment, achieve breakthroughs in mineral exploration, enhance the overall concept of "protecting resources and ensuring development," firmly establish the province's concept of "big geology, big resources, big development," firmly grasp the key spaces, key minerals, key technologies, and key forces of geological work, integrate the "finding" and "using" of mineral resources, and promote the sustainable development of geological work and the mining economy.
Li Yuyan hopes that the new Geological Society will be guided by scientific and technological innovation and promote the transformation and upgrading of the geological industry. Keep in mind the purpose of serving the broad membership, strive to build the Society into a home for geological science and technology workers, and become a booster for the growth of scientific and technological talents; a bridge for communication between the geological industry and government departments; a communication medium for the general public; and a leader in advancing geological science and technology work. Strengthen self-construction and enhance the goals of running the Society. Throughout the purpose, keep the mission in mind, take serving the broad membership and promoting the development of geological science and technology as the mission of the Society, comprehensively improve service levels, broaden service areas, and do a good job in undertaking government functions and decision-making suggestions. Strengthen scientific and technological exchanges, broaden members' horizons, and on the basis of strengthening academic exchanges with domestic counterparts, actively create provincial and Northeast regional academic annual meetings, establish own publications and academic exchange platforms, and provide a stage for the broad membership to display their academic style. Actively use its geographical advantages and the policy support of the "Belt and Road" to expand academic exchanges with neighboring countries and enhance the international perspective of the broad membership. Build an industry think tank and enhance service capabilities. By establishing expert databases for various specialties in the geological field, provide technical support for scientific and technological innovation in the geological industry, provide scientific basis for government decision-making, and practice internal skills for orderly undertaking government functions; promote self-discipline in the geological industry, establish a integrity and self-discipline alliance in the geological industry, and optimize professional title evaluation, scientific and technological achievement evaluation, and talent recommendation in the geological science and technology field. Carry out science popularization activities and spread scientific knowledge. Persist in organizing the annual "World Earth Day" science popularization activities, continue to carry out science popularization in schools, increase young people's interest in geological science, and promote and spread the spirit of geological science to society. Adhere to cultural confidence and promote the development of geological and mining culture. Cultivate and practice socialist core values, establish and publicize advanced models, publicize the dedication of the mining industry, promote the main theme, and gather positive energy; endow the geological and mining spirit with new era elements, and around the "Three Glories" and "Four Specials" spirit of the geological and mining industry, as well as the spirit of the thirteen suggestions given by Director Xu Feipeng to geological exploration management workers, strengthen education and guidance, form emotional identification and behavioral habits; promote the construction of mining culture, carry out literary and artistic and scientific and technological creation, tell good mining stories and knowledge, enhance cultural soft power, and improve the industry image.
Wang Zhande, Director of the Geological Exploration Division of the Provincial Department of Land and Resources, and Zhang Wenyou, Director of the Provincial Mineral Resources Reserve Evaluation Center, presided over the meeting. At the meeting, Cui Bin, on behalf of the 5th Council of the Heilongjiang Geological Society, delivered a work report and financial report; Zhang Jiaying delivered a report on the revision of the "Constitution of the Heilongjiang Geological Society" and a report on the "Heilongjiang Geological Society Membership Fee Standards," and read out the resolution approving 46 comrades including Yu Weidong as members of the Heilongjiang Geological Society; the meeting reviewed and approved the recommended candidates for directors of the 6th Council and supervisors of the 1st Board of Supervisors of the Heilongjiang Geological Society; reviewed and approved the list of chief tellers, tellers, vote counters, and ballot announcers; read out the election method; voted for directors and supervisors, and voted to pass the membership fee standards; passed the resolution on the "Work Report of the 5th Council of the Heilongjiang Geological Society," the resolution on the "Financial Work Report of the 5th Council of the Heilongjiang Geological Society," and the resolution on the "Report on the Revision of the "; reviewed and approved the candidates for the leadership of the 6th Council of the Heilongjiang Geological Society; reviewed and approved the list of chief tellers, tellers, vote counters, and ballot announcers; read out the election method; elected executive directors, chairman, vice chairmen, and secretary-general; announced the election results of the executive directors (leadership); signed meeting documents; and read out the resolution passing the "Heilongjiang Geological Society Membership Fee Standards." More than 150 representatives from the Provincial Department of Land and Resources, directly affiliated institutions, geological exploration units, higher education institutions, and mining enterprises attended the meeting.
Dong Huiming, the new Chairman of the Geological Society and Director of the Provincial Geological Museum, stated in his speech that the 6th Member Congress of the Heilongjiang Geological Society was held in the context of the province's in-depth study of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of the Second Plenary Session of the 12th Provincial Party Committee. It is an important meeting in the history of the province's Geological Society, a meeting of pioneering and innovation, and a meeting of truth-seeking and pragmatism. Under the leadership of the Provincial Department of Land and Resources, through the joint efforts of all representatives and the strong support from all sides, the congress achieved complete success. Today everyone elected me as the Chairman of the 6th Council. This is both trust and encouragement. In future work, I will work hard with the council members to build the Society into a hub-type, open-type, platform-type, and service-type academic group, and continuously enhance its political nature, advanced nature, and mass nature, serve the broad membership, and orderly undertake the work of government function transfer.
