The construction progress of Jiaodong International Airport has always attracted much attention. The reporter learned on the 14th that at present, the pile foundation construction of three municipal road bridges connecting the airport with external traffic——the Nanliu Road Bridge, the South Access Road Bridge and the Nanshi Road Bridge——has been fully completed, marking the completion of the “foundation” of the Jiaodong Airport bridge project. Construction has now entered the stage of pile caps and bridge piers.

Because the Jiaozhou-Jinan Railway runs right beside the three bridges, a train passes on average every seven minutes. To avoid affecting railway operations, the bridge decks that originally needed to span the railway were first laid in a direction parallel to the railway line during construction. Afterward, the laid bridge decks will be rotated in mid-air so that they span across the railway and connect with the bridge decks on both sides of the railway, achieving through-connection of the bridges.“Pile cap construction is expected to be completed by the end of this month, and the entire rotation construction is expected to be achieved by the end of September next year, so that the Nanliu Road can be fully connected.” said Zhao Peng, project manager of the engineering department of the Jiaodong Airport Construction Command.
