　　Beijing Daxing International Airport is an international airport under construction at the border between Beijing and Langfang, Hebei Province, and will be Beijing's second international airport. Its final name has not yet been determined.
　　The terminal building is expected to be completed on July 15, 2019, and will become an important international airport in North China upon completion. The airport is positioned as a large international aviation hub, with plans to build seven runways to meet an annual passenger throughput demand of 100 million person-times. The airport is located on the north bank of the Yongding River, between Yufa and Lixian in Daxing District, Beijing, and Guangyang District, Langfang, Hebei Province. It is about 46 kilometers in a straight line from Tiananmen Square, about 26 kilometers from the center of Langfang, and about 50 kilometers from the future Xiong'an New Area.
　　The new airport is some distance from downtown Beijing, so rapid connectivity with it has become one of the key focuses of the airport's supporting transportation construction. One of the key elements is the new rail transit airport line.
　　[First Beam Erected on the New Airport Line]
　　On November 6, the first beam of the Beijing Rail Transit New Airport Line was erected at the construction site of Section 02 of Phase I of the New Airport Line in Lixian Town, Daxing District, marking the full-scale commencement of the Beijing New Airport Line. On the 6th, Jiang Chuanzhi, design director of the New Airport Line at Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group, introduced at the construction site: Phase I of the new airport rail transit line has a total length of 41.36 kilometers, including shield tunnel sections and elevated sections, with three stations: New Airport North Terminal Station, Cigezhuang, and Caoqiao, passing through Daxing District and Fengtai District.
　　The New Airport Rail Line is an important supporting project for Beijing's new airport, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest urban rail transit project in China at present. After the line is completed, it will take about 19 minutes to reach the new airport terminal from Beijing's South Third Ring Road, greatly improving the service level of the new airport and effectively alleviating pressure on the external road system of the new airport. It is reported that the New Airport Line will be operational in 2019, simultaneously with Beijing's new airport.

　　The elevated section is about 16.2 kilometers long, located outside the Sixth Ring Road in Daxing District, where the land along the route is mainly farmland. Beam erection will take place from now until June 30, 2018. The construction methods of the New Airport Line include elevated and shield tunnel sections. Among them, the superstructure of the elevated bridge is mainly double-track simply supported beams, with a bridge deck width of 11.4 meters. About 8 kilometers of the elevated bridge section is a "co-structured" section for both subway and expressway, which is the first of its kind in Beijing and the first "above-ground road-rail structure form" in mainland China.
