According to the government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia will promote the application of prefabricated buildings in key public construction fields such as affordable housing and gymnasiums in the future, so as to drive the large-scale development of green buildings.

Prefabricated buildings refer to buildings assembled on site from prefabricated components produced in factories. They are mainly divided into prefabricated concrete structures, steel structures, and timber structures, and have advantages such as being less constrained by climatic conditions, fast construction speed, saving time and labor, and high quality.

It is introduced that Inner Mongolia encourages governments at all levels to adopt prefabricated steel structure buildings as much as possible in the field of newly invested large-span, large-space public buildings and industrial buildings, and to gradually promote prefabricated steel structure housing; in the field of municipal infrastructure construction such as underground utility tunnels, bridges, rail transit, and bus stops in new urban areas, priority will be given to prefabricated buildings; in the field of low-rise newly built public buildings such as tourist attractions, garden landscapes, pseudo-classical buildings, self-driving tourist inns and resort areas, and forest areas, modern prefabricated timber structure buildings will be adopted first.

Governments at all levels in Inner Mongolia will give priority to guaranteeing construction land for prefabricated building industrial bases and projects. Land for projects producing and manufacturing prefabricated building materials, parts, and components will enjoy industrial land policies and can be supplied through long-term leasing, lease-first-then-transfer, and combined lease and transfer. Inner Mongolia will also make full use of key industry funds to support the development of prefabricated buildings, and areas with conditions will arrange special funds to support the development of prefabricated building industrial bases. It is learned that Inner Mongolia plans that by 2020, newly started prefabricated buildings will account for more than 10% of the newly built construction area in that year, of which prefabricated buildings in government-invested engineering projects will account for more than 50% of the newly built construction area in that year.
