With the continuous deepening of the national Western Development Strategy, infrastructure construction in western China has entered a golden period of development. In recent years, the state has given preferential support to infrastructure construction in Xinjiang, and foundation engineering projects have increased significantly. Previous small equipment can no longer meet current construction requirements. Against this background, on September 15, two Bauer rotary drilling rigs traveled together to a project site in Urumqi, Xinjiang, which can be described as a perfect dance of equipment "great" power and brand "strong" strength. The two types of equipment on site are three Bauer BG30 and one BG26 rotary drilling rigs. The project contracted by Fujian Dongfang Construction Engineering Labor Co., Ltd. is divided into 2 projects and 2 sites: one is the Urumqi Kenan Viaduct site; the other is the Urumqi Metro Line 4 Convention and Exhibition Center Station site. The Kenan Viaduct site has a pile diameter of 1.2 meters and a depth of 15-21 meters. 0-3 meters of backfill soil, 3-8 meters of silt, and 8-21 meters of moderately weathered sandstone. The Metro Line 4 Convention and Exhibition Center Station site consists of 0-14 meters of clay, 14-27 meters of pebbles, and 27-30 meters of moderately weathered rock. It is a typical working condition with complex geological structure and relatively hard geology in Xinjiang. When facing difficulties, complex working conditions, and tight schedules, the selection of excellent equipment becomes the first choice for construction. After much consideration, the contractor finally decided to use Bauer BG30 and BG26 rotary drilling rigs for construction.
The Bauer BG30 adopts the BT80 Bauer self-made special chassis, a 280 kW Caterpillar engine, and a single-layer main winch with a single-rope effective pull of 265 kN. When using a 3-section locking drill pipe, the maximum drilling depth can reach 54 meters; with a 4-section locking drill pipe, the maximum drilling depth can reach 72 meters; and with a 5-section friction drill pipe, the maximum depth can reach 87 meters. The BG26 is a new Bauer rotary drilling rig with a maximum drilling diameter of 2.2 meters. When using a 3-section locking drill pipe, the maximum drilling depth reaches 48 meters; with a 4-section locking drill pipe, the maximum drilling depth can reach 64 meters. Its BT70 main unit is a foundation engineering special chassis designed by Bauer, equipped with a 224 kW Caterpillar engine. It has strong power and low fuel consumption, meets high-load and long-term operation requirements, has a low failure rate, high rock-socketing efficiency, and low wear. It has now become the equipment of choice for many domestic projects. The Bauer BG30 and BG26 rotary drilling rigs entered the Urumqi, Xinjiang construction site together, like "brothers" going to war, competing on the battlefield, brave and capable, with outstanding performance. The BG30, which won the TOP50 (2017) Annual Product Award, fully demonstrated its technical advantages. In the process of deep rock drilling, it always operated stably and drilled powerfully, ensuring the smooth progress of the project. According to feedback from on-site personnel, at the Urumqi Kenan Viaduct site, the BG30 completes one pile in an average of 4-5 hours, and at the Urumqi Metro Line 4 Convention and Exhibition Center Station, the BG30 completes one pile in about 2 hours on average. Moreover, fuel consumption during continuous high-torque rock drilling is 30-35 liters/hour, reflecting the equipment's superior economy. The BG26 rotary drilling rig, which once participated in mine collapse rescue and rendered outstanding service, has been unanimously recognized by construction personnel for its on-site performance of strong rock-socketing ability, low failure rate, and good hole-forming quality. At present, project construction is proceeding smoothly according to the tight schedule. The two rotary drilling rigs have successfully conquered Xinjiang's working conditions, and together with their strong drilling power, improved efficiency, guaranteed quality, and reduced consumption, they bring users the ability to obtain extra value returns, fully demonstrating the excellent characteristics of Bauer equipment, thus writing a legend that wherever Bauer equipment goes, it creates a pleasant surprise for customers.
