On October 10, reporters learned that the Anhui section of the Anqing-Jiujiang high-speed railway has officially begun construction. In the future, this railway will connect with the Nanchang-Jiujiang and Nanchang-Ji'an-Ganzhou dedicated passenger lines.
Only half an hour from Lushan to Anqing
The reporter learned that the Anhui section of the Anqing-Jiujiang high-speed railway, now under construction, has a construction period of five years and is scheduled for completion in October 2022.
The railway will connect with the Hefei-Anqing high-speed railway currently under construction to form the "Hefei-Anqing-Jiujiang" high-speed railway, and will extend south to link Nanchang, Ganzhou, Shenzhen and other cities. According to the prequalification announcement previously issued for the Anhui section, the Anjiu high-speed railway is designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
At this speed, once the Anjiu high-speed railway is completed, the journey from Lushan to Anqing will take just over half an hour, and by traveling north via the Nanchang-Jiujiang intercity railway, Nanchang will be able to reach Hefei in under two hours at the fastest.
Nanchang to gain another northbound corridor
It is reported that the Anjiu high-speed railway connects north to the Hefei-Anqing, Hefei-Bengbu and Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railways, and south to the Wuhan-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Ji'an-Ganzhou and Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed railways. It is an important component of the Beijing-Hefei-Anqing-Nanchang-Shenzhen north-south rapid passenger transport corridor and the Shanghai-Nanjing-Wuhu-Anqing-Jiujiang-Wuhan east-west rapid passenger transport corridor along the Yangtze River.
Before the completion of the Beijing-Kowloon dedicated passenger line, the Anjiu high-speed railway will connect north with the Hefei-Anqing and Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou dedicated passenger lines, and south with the Nanchang-Jiujiang and Nanchang-Ji'an-Ganzhou dedicated passenger lines, forming a north-south, high-capacity, rapid passenger transport corridor spanning Henan, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. After the Beijing-Kowloon dedicated passenger line is completed, it can also serve as an important eastern corridor of the Beijing-Kowloon dedicated passenger line, entering Beijing via the future Beijing-Kowloon dedicated passenger line; at the same time, it will connect with the Nanjing-Anqing and Wuhan-Jiujiang dedicated passenger lines.
