On October 8, an academician workstation led by Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Miao Changwen and his team as core research forces was inaugurated at the Bridge Company of China Railway 11th Bureau Group in Yingtan, Jiangxi. This is Jiangxi's first academician workstation focused on concrete research.
Miao Changwen is a Chinese Academy of Engineering academician specializing in concrete research. For more than two decades, he has been active on the front lines of major engineering construction projects in China, achieving multiple results in research on key crack-resistance technologies for concrete, research on technologies to improve the service life and durability of major infrastructure projects, and the development of multifunctional civil engineering materials.
It is understood that the Bridge Company of China Railway 11th Bureau Group is a specialized company engaged in the production of concrete industrial products and is a national high-tech enterprise. In 2013, the Bridge Company established the Yingtan High-Performance Concrete and Prefabrication Engineering Technology Research Center, which has an independent professional testing and inspection center.
The initial research goals of the academician workstation at the Bridge Company of China Railway 11th Bureau Group include research on the formulation of concrete without special admixtures for CRTS III type ballastless track slabs and its effects, and research on key technologies for fair-faced concrete with high appearance quality for railway engineering bridge girders. The long-term research goal will focus on high-performance concrete and prefabrication professional research and development, creating a first-class industrial base for concrete R&D and concrete prefabricated products centered on Jiangxi, radiating across the country, and serving the construction industry.
