On a recent morning, the first drilling for the Anhui section of the Anqing-Jiujiang high-speed railway, part of the Yangtze River high-speed rail corridor, commenced at the construction site in Dalongshan Town, Yixiu District, Anqing City, marking the start of construction on the Anhui section of the Anjiu High-Speed Railway.
The Anjiu High-Speed Railway line starts from the under-construction Xin'anqing West Station on the Hefei-Anqing high-speed railway, passes through Huaining County, Qianshan County, Taihu County, and Susong County in Anqing City, Huangmei County in Huanggang City, Hubei Province, and ends at Lushan Station in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. The main line has a total length of 170.9 kilometers, with a total project investment of 31.738 billion yuan. It has 8 stations: Anqing, Xin'anqing West, Qianshan South, Taihu South, Susong East, Huangmei South, Konglong North, and Lushan.
The Anhui section of the Anjiu High-Speed Railway runs from Xin'anqing West Station to the Anhui-Hubei border, with a main line length of 102.667 kilometers. In addition, the Anhui section project includes the connecting line from Anqing Station to Xin'anqing West Station, with a length of 27.47 kilometers, and a new Hefei-Anqing connecting line from Longshan line station to Shuangling line station, with an upstream connecting line of 4 kilometers and a downstream connecting line of 2.77 kilometers.
The Anhui section of the Anjiu High-Speed Railway is a double-track high-speed railway passenger dedicated line, designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and will exclusively operate EMU trains. The total approved investment for the entire project's preliminary design is 31.738 billion yuan, of which the Anhui section investment is 16.019 billion yuan. A joint venture railway company, funded equally by China Railway Corporation and Anhui Province with 50% capital each, will serve as the project legal entity responsible for railway construction and operation management. The construction period is 5 years.
It is reported that the Anjiu High-Speed Railway connects to the Hefei-Anqing, Hefei-Bengbu, and Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railways in the north, and to the Wuhan-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Ji'an-Ganzhou, and Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed railways in the south. It is an important component of the Beijing-Hefei-Anqing-Nanchang-Shenzhen north-south rapid passenger corridor and the Shanghai-Nanjing-Wuhu-Anqing-Jiujiang-Wuhan east-west rapid passenger corridor along the Yangtze River, and is a key project for improving China's rapid railway network.
Industry insiders say that after the Anjiu High-Speed Railway is completed, high-speed trains from Wuhu will directly reach Jiujiang, Wuhan, Chongqing, Chengdu, and other places; at the same time, high-speed trains from Wuhu can also go south to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other places via Anqing and Jiujiang.
The Anjiu High-Speed Railway is part of the Hefei-Anqing-Jiujiang high-speed railway. It connects to the Hefei-Anqing, Hefei-Bengbu, and Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railways in the north, and to the Wuhan-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Jiujiang, Nanchang-Ji'an-Ganzhou, and Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed railways in the south. Once completed, it will add a large-capacity, fast, and convenient east-west passenger transport corridor between the Yangtze River region in East China and the Central, South, and Southwest regions of China.
