According to a notice issued by the Municipal Rail Transit Company on September 30, comparative bidding has begun for the construction drawing review project of the Zhengzhou Rail Transit Port Area–Xuchang Regional Railway (Zhengzhou Section), with registration open from October 9 to 13. This means the much-anticipated regional railway connecting Zhengzhou and Xuchang has been placed on the construction agenda.
The notice shows that the Port Area–Xuchang Regional Railway (Zhengzhou Section) consists of two parts: the main line and the Garden Expo Park branch line. The design adopts B-type trains in six-car formations, with a planned maximum operating speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
The main line starts in the north at Zhenggang Wujie Station in the commercial sub-center northeast of the port area, and ends in the south at Gongye Shilu Station in the “Shuanghe Lake” area. The route mainly runs along Chaohu Road (formerly Longzhong Highway), Huaxia Avenue (formerly Sigang Liandong Avenue), Yingbin Avenue, the airport, and Yongzhou Road (Hangxing Road), with a total length of about 30.35 kilometers. It is entirely underground, with 17 stations in total, all underground, including 5 interchange stations.
The Garden Expo Park branch line project consists of 2 stations and 1 section, with a total length of 3.1 kilometers, all underground. The line starts at Xingang Shiyi Road Station at the intersection of Yongzhou Road and Shuqi Road, and connects to Garden Expo Park West Station at the visitor center at the west gate of Garden Expo Park Area A.
