On the afternoons of September 27-28, the Technical Expert Group of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge held its 10th meeting, the last expert group meeting since the bridge's construction began. The expert group unanimously agreed that, up to now, the main works of the bridge have been essentially completed with controllable quality.
The reporter learned from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority that the immersed tube tunnel project is currently undergoing internal ancillary works construction, which is planned to be fully completed by December 2017. The housing construction projects on the east and west artificial islands and the Zhuhai-Macao Port Management Area are also going all out to ensure completion before the end of this year. The traffic electromechanical engineering is overcoming unfavorable factors such as complex system and construction interfaces and narrow working areas, striving to complete all construction tasks by the end of December.
Considering the large scale, high standards, long cycle, and numerous contents of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project, a responsible person from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority introduced that in May this year, a deployment meeting for the completion acceptance of the main works was organized, clarifying that contract project completion acceptance will be carried out in phases and batches according to the completion status of different sections. It is expected to be completed as scheduled by the end of this year.
It is also learned that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority has launched the operation preparations for the main works and formulated the "Operation and Maintenance Mode and Preparation Work Plan", which was officially approved on September 1. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will draw on the mature operation management experience of domestic large-scale expressway projects and propose a management and maintenance mode of "self-operation of core business, outsourcing of daily simple business". Currently, personnel training and drills are being vigorously carried out.
