　　Starting September 29, the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway will be open for operation along its entire line. Before October 11, there will be 3 pairs of direct conventional passenger trains from Chengdu and Chongqing to Lanzhou every day, with railway travel times of 12 hours and 13 hours respectively, 9.5 hours and 7 hours shorter than before. This was learned by the reporter from the Chengdu Railway Bureau on September 28.
　　Trains from Chengdu to Lanzhou pass through Mianyang, Jiangyou and Guangyuan in our province. Trains from Chongqing to Lanzhou pass through Wusheng, Nanchong, Nanbu, Langzhong, Cangxi, Guangyuan and other places in our province. Starting October 12, the Chengdu Railway Bureau will add one pair each of passenger trains K2632/1 from Chengdu to Xining and K2635/36 from Chongqing to Xining; some existing passenger trains from Chengdu and Chongqing to Xining, Urumqi, Lhasa and other places will be rerouted via the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway.
　　The Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway is 886 kilometers long and passes through 22 counties, cities and districts in Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Chongqing. Since 2014, the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway has been completed and opened in sections. Among them, the Guangyuan-Chongqing section was completed and opened at the end of 2015, ending the history of no railway access in Cangxi, Langzhong and Nanbu in our province; in 2016, EMU trains began operating on this section.
　　As a new large-capacity transport corridor for both passengers and freight between the northwest and southwest regions in the national medium- and long-term railway network plan, the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway connects northward with the Lanzhou-Xinjiang, Baotou-Lanzhou, Lanzhou-Qinghai and Lanzhou-Lianyungang railways, forming a fast northbound corridor for Sichuan, Chongqing and other areas and promoting the accelerated integration of the southwest region into the Silk Road Economic Belt; in the middle, it links the Sichuan, Chongqing and Yunnan areas through the Baoji-Chengdu, Chengdu-Kunming and Suining-Chongqing railways, opening a transport corridor for the northwest and southwest regions to integrate into the Yangtze River Economic Belt; southward, it connects with the Chongqing-Guizhou Railway under construction, forming a major north-south railway trunk line from Lanzhou to Guangzhou and becoming a new corridor for western China to connect with coastal areas and integrate into the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
　　After the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway opens for operation along its entire line, it will form a new convenient transport corridor between the southwest and northwest, driving poverty alleviation and prosperity in the old revolutionary base areas of Gansu, Shaanxi and Sichuan and the social and economic development along the line.
