Another high-speed railway passing through Huizhou has started construction! Yesterday, the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway began construction simultaneously in Guangzhou, Huizhou, and Shanwei. It is reported that the Huizhou section of the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway has a total of 4 stations: Luofushan Station, Boluo Station, Huichengnan Station, and Huidongnan Station, and is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2021. By then, taking a high-speed train from Huizhou to Guangzhou will take only half an hour, much less than the current approximately two-hour drive.
7 stations on the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway, 4 within Huizhou
According to reports, the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway starts from Xintang Station in Guangzhou, runs east through Zengcheng District of Guangzhou, Boluo County, Huicheng District, Zhongkai High-tech Zone, Huiyang District, Huidong County of Huizhou, and Shenshan Cooperation Zone, Haifeng County, and Chengqu under the jurisdiction of Shanwei City, to Shanwei Station on the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway. The entire line has 7 stations: Xintang, Zengcheng, Luofushan, Boluo, Huichengnan, Huidongnan, and Chishi, and the existing Shanwei Station will be renovated and expanded.
In April 2017, China Railway Corporation and the provincial government officially approved the feasibility study report of the project, agreeing to construct the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway. The new line of the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway has a total length of 206.2 kilometers, a design speed of 350 km/h, and an estimated total investment of 43.21 billion yuan. Among them, the Huizhou section is about 117 kilometers long with a total investment of about 22.86 billion yuan.
According to provincial arrangements, the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway achieved early-stage construction in July this year, with the early-stage section in Boluo County about 5.7 kilometers long. The author noted that 4 of the 7 stations on the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway are within Huizhou. Among them, Boluo County has 2: Luofushan Station (east of Changning Town, 2 platforms and 4 tracks) and Boluo Station (Luoyang Town, 2 platforms and 4 tracks); Huicheng District has 1: Huichengnan Station (north of Sandong Town, 3 platforms and 7 tracks); Huidong County has 1: Huidongnan Station (south of the county seat, 2 platforms and 4 tracks).
Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway to connect with Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway via connecting lines
Currently, railway lines between the Pearl River Delta region and eastern Guangdong basically all need to detour through Shenzhen. With the construction of the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway, Guangzhou will be able to directly reach eastern Guangdong in the future. The spatial distance between Huizhou and Guangzhou will also be further shortened, and the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway will be completed and opened to traffic.
According to reports, the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway project also includes related works in the Guangzhou hub, Huizhou area, and Shanwei area. Among them, the related works in Huizhou area include the construction of up and down connecting lines of 26 kilometers single-track from Huizhou North Station of the Ganzhou-Shenzhen Railway to the Guangzhou direction of the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway. This means that in the future, the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway will connect with the Ganzhou-Shenzhen Railway at Huizhou North Station. After both high-speed railways are opened to traffic, departing from Huizhou North Station by high-speed train, one can reach Dongguan, Shenzhen, and even Hong Kong via the north-south direction, or reach Guangzhou and Shanwei via the east-west direction, all in about half an hour.
The author learned that the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway will also be extended from Shanwei to Shantou in the future. In May this year, the Shanwei-Shantou Railway (Shanshan Railway) was also included in the key promotion plan of the "13th Five-Year Plan" for the Development of Comprehensive Transportation System of Guangdong Province.
Huizhou will become a veritable "high-speed rail hub" in the future. The Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, which started construction yesterday, has 4 stations within Huizhou; the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, which started construction at the end of last year, has 3 stations within Huizhou; plus the planned Guangzhou-Heyuan High-speed Railway, Huizhou will have 4 high-speed railways in the future: Xiamen-Shenzhen, Ganzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Shanwei, and Guangzhou-Heyuan, forming a rail transportation pattern of "4 lines and 11 stations".
Guangzhou to build 2 large railway passenger transport hubs
A relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Engineering Construction Command of Guangzhou Railway (Group) Company introduced that the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway is a regional connecting line of high-speed railway planned and constructed in the national "13th Five-Year Plan" and an important part of the "five vertical and two horizontal" high-speed railway backbone network of Guangdong Province. The construction of the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway connects three cities at different stages of development and will improve the transportation network from Shantou, Shanwei, and other areas to Guangzhou and Huizhou.
In May this year, the "13th Five-Year Plan" for the Development of Comprehensive Transportation System of Guangdong Province listed 15 large railway passenger transport hubs in the province. Among them, Huizhou has 2: Huichengnan Station and Huizhou North Station.
According to the plan, the province will build 15 large hubs, and Huizhou will have Huichengnan Station (newly built) and Huizhou North Station (newly built). Among them, Huichengnan Station is the second largest station along the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway, with 3 platforms and 7 tracks; Huizhou North Station is the second largest station along the Ganzhou-Shenzhen Passenger Dedicated Line, with 5 platforms and 11 tracks.
Currently, the Ganzhou-Shenzhen Passenger Dedicated Line, which has already started construction, has 3 stations within Huizhou: Huizhou North Station, Boluo North Station, and Zhongkai Station; the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway has 4 stations within Huizhou: Luofushan Station, Boluo Station, Huichengnan Station, and Huidongnan Station. In addition, with the planned Guangzhou-Heyuan Passenger Dedicated Line, Huizhou will have 4 high-speed railways in the future: Xiamen-Shenzhen, Ganzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Shanwei, and Guangzhou-Heyuan, forming a rail transportation pattern of "4 lines and 11 stations".
