作为西安市轨道交通线网中第二条东西方向的主骨架线路，调整后的地铁5号线一期工程向东延伸了3.43千米，增加了登月阁、纺织城火车站两个车站。西起和平村站，终点是纺织城火车站，全长25.7公里，共设车站20座。整个线路连接了纺织城火车站、浐灞生态区、曲江新区、西郊工业区、西咸新区等城市重点建设区域。计划将于明年开工，2018年建成试运营。
