On the 3rd, the 16th Western China International Fair grandly opened. As the theme city of this year's Western China International Fair, Suining showcased to the world its new achievements in three major sections: urban construction, industrial development, and international cooperation exhibitions. Unlike previous fairs, during this year's Western China International Fair, Suining brought its Sponge City construction achievements into the exhibition hall, attracting the attention of many exhibitors.
The number of participating enterprises and products at this year's Western China International Fair is the highest in previous years
The Suining Pavilion of the Western China International Fair is located in Hall 1 of the Chengdu International Convention and Exhibition Center, covering an area of 1,299 square meters, with green plants, ponds, lotus flowers, and swimming fish interspersed within. In the center of the pavilion, a “Smart Tree” serves as the main sculpture, comprehensively and three-dimensionally displaying Suining's current image as a secondary transportation hub with the “one ring and eight radiations” expressway network and the “three directions and seven lines” railway network.
More than 20 city business cards, including the China Human Settlements Environment Example Award, National Sanitary City, National Sponge City Construction Pilot City, and National Garden City, are posted at the entrance of the pavilion. The electronic information industry chain, Tianqi Lithium, Skyworth Group, and JAC Motors, as representatives of Suining's manufactured products, all four enterprises brought their most representative and technologically advanced products to the exhibition.
It is reported that during this Western China International Fair, Suining has a total of 146 participating enterprises centrally displaying 130 exhibited products, including both “Made in Suining” high-precision and advanced products and the latest research and development achievements of some enterprises. The number of participating enterprises and exhibits this time is the highest for Suining in its history of participating in the Western China International Fair.
In addition, during this Western China International Fair, a number of intangible cultural heritage projects such as Sichuan Qingyin, Suining Acrobatics, and Guanyin Culture Art entered the exhibition site. Watching the wonderful performances on stage and the dazzling array of products in the pavilion, the exhibitors below applauded enthusiastically, impressed by Suining's rich cultural and artistic heritage.
Sponge City construction achievements receive praise from exhibitors
Among the exhibited product projects, the Sponge City construction achievements are undoubtedly the most eye-catching. In the Suining Pavilion, Suining's characteristic platform lotuses grow on special materials that can permeate rainwater. The staff in the pavilion used water to simulate rainwater and continuously demonstrated to exhibitors the six major functions of a sponge city: “infiltration, detention, retention, purification, utilization, and drainage.” Such construction achievements, which can reduce urban surface runoff, optimize the living environment, reduce the pressure on municipal pipe networks, and avoid urban waterlogging, have won praise from exhibitors.
In recent years, Suining has adhered to the five major development concepts of “innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing,” highlighted green development, focused on the protection and restoration of the ecological environment and historical culture, allowed the city to return to nature and integrate into nature, utilized nature while conforming to nature, and enhanced the city's competitiveness and attractiveness by strengthening its environmental advantages. In April 2015, Suining successfully applied to become one of the first 16 national pilot cities for Sponge City construction and is the only pilot city for Sponge City construction in western China.
According to the three-year implementation plan for the Sponge City pilot construction, Suining completed 26 planned implementation projects in 2015, completing a pilot area of 4 square kilometers. A total of 44 projects were actually launched (11 waterlogging point remediation projects, 7 public building renovation projects, 8 residential community government renovation projects, 9 residential community management and control projects, 4 road renovation projects, and 5 park and wetland renovation projects). As of February 2016, 31 projects, including Lianli Park, Sports Park, Western Tangdu, Zizhu Meiting Community, and Yucai Road waterlogging remediation, have been completed.
