On the 28th, the Chishi Grand Bridge on the expressway from Rucheng County to Chenzhou City in Hunan Province completed all delivery acceptance procedures and officially opened to trial traffic. As the world's longest-span high-pier multi-tower concrete cable-stayed bridge of its type, the Chishi Grand Bridge is hailed as a "super project" in Hunan comparable to the Aizhai Grand Suspension Bridge. Its smooth opening to traffic marks the full completion of the Hunan section of the Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway.
The Chishi Grand Bridge, located in Chishi Township, Yizhang County, Chenzhou City, is designed as a four-tower, double-cable-plane prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge. Its main bridge is 1,470 meters long and spans a grand canyon of about 1,500 meters. It features large piles, deep holes, multiple towers, high piers, long spans and a high bridge deck system, and set multiple world records in bridge construction during its construction.

Second is the pier height: the piers are 182 meters high, making it the multi-tower concrete cable-stayed bridge with the greatest pier height in the world at present. Third is the tower shape design. Our tower shape is a double-sided hyperbolic, S-shaped waisted design. This tower shape can be said to be a major innovation at present; it can be described as a combination of strength and beauty. Its maximum perimeter reaches 109 meters, with 24 faces on the outside and 36 faces on the inside. The structure is quite complex, but this tower shape is very stable and has great stiffness. This tower shape is also called the "slim waist" by us.
The Chishi Grand Bridge is located in the Nanling Mountains and Luoxiao Mountains, where topographic and geological conditions are extremely complex, and the area is known as a "geological museum." The Chishi Grand Bridge is highly technological, novel in structure, huge in project scale and complex in technology. Without any experience or ready-made construction methods to draw on, the builders carried out 9 major technological innovations, solved 10 major technical problems, obtained 13 national patents, and won multiple awards for construction methods and scientific and technological achievements, providing highly useful reference for the construction of extra-large bridges on mountainous expressways.
