Strengthen Planning and Management of Town and Village Construction to Improve the Living Environment

On October 26, the Jiangxi Provincial Government held an on-site meeting in Ji'an to advance the province's work on planning and management of town and village construction and improvement of the living environment in towns and villages. Vice Governor Zheng Weiwen attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
　　Zheng Weiwen pointed out that it is necessary to adhere to planning as the guide, take the special rectification of disorderly rural housing construction and oversized and over-tall housing construction as the starting point, and strengthen the planning and management of rural housing construction; following the approach of “having roofs, white walls, and windows, and adding distinctive features, functions, and environmental amenities,” renovate existing rural housing and build livable villages. It is necessary to earnestly implement the five major development concepts, seriously study and learn from Zhejiang's experience, respect the laws of urbanization development, natural laws, and market laws, and build distinctive small towns into livable and workable gathering areas with industrial characteristics, urban functions, rural features, and appropriate scale. Zheng Weiwen emphasized that it is necessary to accelerate the improvement of various supervision and evaluation mechanisms, urge all localities to speed up the construction of sewage pipe networks, underground comprehensive utility tunnels, sewage treatment facilities in the top 100 central towns, rural garbage treatment, and shantytown renovation, optimize the living environment, and effectively safeguard the vital interests of the people.
