At 9 a.m. on the 27th, amid continuous autumn rain, a brief groundbreaking ceremony for Zhengzhou's underground utility tunnel pilot project was held in Huayuankou Town, Huiji District. Pei Zhiyang, Director of the Hebei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Cheng Zhiming, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Zhang Junfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, Director of the Publicity Department and Vice Mayor, and others attended the ceremony.
In April this year, Zhengzhou was selected as one of the second batch of national pilot cities for underground utility tunnels. There are 8 pilot utility tunnel projects in total: the central urban area underground utility tunnel project (including five projects in the Erqi commercial district, the south area of the Citizens' Public Cultural Service Zone, Huayuankou Town in Huiji District, the Jinshui Science and Education Park, and the Erqi Mazhai New Town area), the Zhengdong New District Baisha Group underground utility tunnel project, and the Airport Economy Zone underground utility tunnel project (including two projects in the high-speed rail exhibition and business district and the Garden Expo Park area). The total construction length is about 44.1 kilometers, with a total investment of about 5.978 billion yuan. Construction is planned to start in 2016, be completed in 2017, and begin operation in 2018. The pipelines entering the tunnels include water supply, drainage, heating, gas, power, communications, reclaimed water and other pipelines. In combination with regional functions, space is reserved for pipelines such as direct drinking water and pneumatic waste collection to meet long-term development needs. By 2020, Zhengzhou plans to build 214 kilometers of utility tunnels, and by 2030, 575 kilometers.Advancing the construction of underground utility tunnels is an undertaking that benefits the city and the people. It can not only solve common urban problems such as "road zippers" and "spider webs in the sky" and change the appearance of the city, but also represents a major transformation in urban construction concepts, patterns and methods. The construction of underground utility tunnels in Zhengzhou is conducive to ensuring urban safety, improving urban functions, beautifying urban landscapes, and promoting intensive, efficient and transformational urban development. It is also conducive to improving the city's carrying capacity and the quality of urbanization development, increasing effective investment in public goods, and strengthening the government's control and management of public resources.
The Huayuankou Town underground utility tunnel pilot project in Huiji District, which broke ground this time, is located on Jingshui Road and Yingbin East Road. Jingshui Road and Yingbin East Road are the backbone roads of Huayuankou Town in Huiji District, the main roads for external travel in the entire area, and the transmission channels for trunk pipelines in the entire area. The project is planned to have a total length of 5.3 kilometers and a total investment of about 642 million yuan. It adopts four-compartment and five-compartment cross-sections. The pipelines entering the tunnels include water supply, sewage, power, communications, gas and heating, and space is reserved for reclaimed water pipelines, etc.
