Pile Foundation Construction Begins at Wucha Intersection Overpass
To Be Completed by the End of Next Year, When Traffic Will No Longer Need to Wait at Red Lights
Wucha Intersection is an important traffic node at the southern gateway of Liuzhou City, and the intersection is currently undergoing overpass reconstruction. During a recent visit, the reporter found that pile foundation construction has already begun on the bridge section on Rongjun Road. Next, closed construction will also be carried out on Liaoyuan Road and the southern section of Liushi Road. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of next year, when the intersection will end its history of long waits at red lights.
Pile foundation construction has begun on the Wucha Intersection reconstruction project.
Reconstruction Divided into Three Levels
The contractor for the Wucha Intersection road reconstruction project is Eleventh Metallurgical Construction Group Co., Ltd. According to the project manager of the company, the reconstruction divides Wucha Intersection into three levels: bridge, underpass, and ground. Bridge construction on Rongjun Road has now begun.
The bridge works on Rongjun Road require support from 48 piles, and excavation of the underground pile foundations is currently underway. These piles must go about 16 meters deep underground.
In addition, near the pile foundation construction area at Wucha Intersection, numerous high-voltage power lines pass overhead. In the future, these power lines will all be moved underground, and relevant departments are coordinating this work.
Liushi Road and Liaoyuan Road to Be Closed
On Liushi Road and Liaoyuan Road, the original green belts have been removed and, together with the original sidewalks and non-motorized vehicle lanes, re-hardened to build new concrete roads. These new roads are 13 meters wide and consist of three motor vehicle lanes and one non-motorized vehicle lane.
The manager said these are temporary traffic diversion roads. According to the construction schedule, the next step will be closed construction on Liaoyuan Road and the southern section of Liushi Road. The new roads are the traffic diversion routes after closure.
To avoid the college entrance examination dates of June 7 and 8, relevant departments decided to begin closed construction on Liaoyuan Road and the southern section of Liushi Road on June 11. The closed section of Liaoyuan Road extends about 280 meters north from Wucha Intersection, and the closed section of the southern part of Liushi Road extends about 480 meters south from Wucha Intersection.
With these two roads plus the previously closed Rongjun Road, the remaining routes through Wucha Intersection are the northern section of Liushi Road and Jila Road. How should vehicles enter and leave the city?
For outbound traffic, vehicles traveling south from Rongjun Road and Liaoyuan Road should turn right at Jiutoushan Road intersection, pass through Jiutoushan Road, then go south from the northern section of Liushi Road, and continue south through the newly built diversion road on the southern section of Liushi Road.
For inbound traffic, turn right from the southern section of Liushi Road onto the Longquan Road extension, then turn right via Jila Road onto Liaoyuan Road, and continue north via the newly built diversion road on Liaoyuan Road.
Bridge to Open to Traffic on May 1 Next Year
According to the construction schedule, the Wucha Intersection project will first complete bridge construction, then underpass construction, and finally the ground roundabout project. In some unaffected areas, bridge and underpass construction can proceed simultaneously.
The construction period for the entire project is 18 months. In March next year, the main bridge structure will be completed, and the bridge section will open to traffic before May 1 to ease traffic congestion at the intersection. Before National Day next year, the underpass will meet traffic conditions. By the end of next year, the entire project will be completed.
After the entire project is completed, there will be no traffic lights at Wucha Intersection, and traffic capacity will be greatly increased. The section from Rongjun Road to the southern section of Liushi Road and the section from Liaoyuan Road to the southern section of Liushi Road will both pass over the overpass, with two lanes and four lanes respectively. From the southern section of Liushi Road toward Rongjun Road and the northern section of Liushi Road, traffic will pass through the underpass, with two lanes in each direction.
