Recently, it was learned from China Communications Construction Company, the contractor for the Mingzhu Bay Starting Zone, that the underground space of Mingzhu Bay's future underground new city has begun construction, and the main earthwork is expected to be completed by December this year.

This commercial street is about 837 meters long with a total floor area of more than 30,000 square meters. It is worth noting that it is not on the ground, but 7 to 10 meters underground—it is Nansha's first underground new city!

1 The "Underground New City" Is Divided into Five Major Theme Zones

The underground space project is located at Shazui East Road and Tuntian Road on the tip of Lingshan Island, and is divided into two parts: the West Zone and the East Zone. The main structure is 2 to 3 stories high and will be divided into 5 theme zones, namely the Exquisite Life Lane, Trendy Digital Street, Colorful Boutique City, Avant-garde Brand Port, and Qianxun Food Island, respectively named "Lane, Street, City, Port, Island" and divided according to different commercial formats. What a special distribution of business formats, isn't it?

It is reported that this underground space is modeled on the Shinjuku central area of Tokyo and Canary Wharf in London, integrating modern trendy living with leisure consumption culture, and is a trendy and vibrant space that combines fashion, individuality, scenario-based and theme-based elements. It complements the above-ground commerce through differentiated positioning and is committed to creating the most fashionable sunny living area in Nansha's future central business district. With such a high-end positioning, are you as excited and full of expectation as the editor?

2 The Underground City Will Cross the River Channel

In fact, this underground shopping mall is part of the comprehensive development project at the tip of Lingshan Island in the Mingzhu Bay Starting Zone of Nansha, Guangzhou. It is invested in and built by China Communications Construction Group with 8.2 billion yuan, and construction began as early as August 5, 2014. At that time, the project developer introduced that the new city would be visible after 30 months, with a scale possibly exceeding Zhujiang New Town, which means Nansha is expected to rise as a "Zhujiang New Town" by 2017. So what is its progress now?

As of the end of April this year, the infrastructure project at the tip of Lingshan Island in the Mingzhu Bay Starting Zone had completed a cumulative output value of 2.6 billion yuan. Since April, foundation pit support works have been carried out for the underground space. Before the end of December this year, a series of earthwork, civil engineering, decoration, equipment installation, and other supporting projects will also proceed as scheduled.

Mai Yan, the person in charge of the underground space project, said that at present, the biggest problem encountered in the construction of the underground space is that this underground space will connect with the subway station, and another section will pass through a river channel. This plan makes the subway station and the underground space integrated, which will help guide passenger flow and attract customers, but there are also certain risks in prediction; once the depth of the foundation pit is reserved incorrectly, it may make it impossible to set up the station. When passing through the river channel, the underground space will also be co-built with the bridge over the river channel, sharing one foundation pit support structure.

3 Integrated Utility Tunnel Says Goodbye to "Road-Digging"

Being built at the same time as the underground space is the underground integrated utility tunnel in the Mingzhu Bay Starting Zone, located between the underground space and the road surface, about 2.3 kilometers long.

It has a distinctive design, namely a "kaleidoscope" lighting system that fully uses natural light and specular diffuse reflection. Transparent lighting openings are opened at certain intervals, and through the principle of different mirror reflections, natural light is introduced into the underground utility tunnel, so that lines can be clearly inspected during the day without using electricity.

Thanks to it, in the Mingzhu Bay Starting Zone, various cables and network lines that "fly" in the air will be bid farewell; these lines will all go underground and "hide" inside the internationally advanced prefabricated integrated utility tunnel.
