Dynamic compaction uses the powerful impact energy generated by a heavy hammer falling freely to repeatedly tamp the foundation soil, compacting the soil layer to a certain depth below the tamping surface, thereby improving the bearing capacity and stability of the foundation and reducing compressibility. Due to the large tamping energy, the reinforcement depth is also great. It has a good effect on the reinforcement of general soft soil foundations. Currently, commonly used dynamic compaction techniques for reinforcing soft soil foundations include: compaction gravel pile plus tamping method, sand pile plus tamping method, vacuum/surcharge preloading combined with dynamic compaction, and dynamic compaction gravel piers.
