The Wenzhou Airport Transportation Hub Complex will be built to a "national leading, world-class" standard, driving our city towards becoming an aviation metropolis.

　　Transportation-oriented with compatible commercial functions

　　According to the plan, the Wenzhou Airport Transportation Hub Complex will form an urban transportation complex integrating civil aviation aircraft, medium and long-distance buses, BRT bus rapid transit, rail transit, taxis, regular city buses, intercity buses, water buses, and slow traffic systems within a 30-square-kilometer area centered on Longwan International Airport. Its functional positioning is mainly transportation-oriented, with a small portion of commercial functions.

　　"We plan to position the airport transportation hub complex as a new urban complex integrating one-stop transportation transfer functions with modern commercial service functions," said Xiao Feng, General Manager of Wenzhou Airport Group. The commercial part will adopt a comprehensive commercial development model, focusing on building the Wenzhou Brand Exhibition and Trade Center and an international trade city.

　　During the interview, relevant experts also reminded that innovation is needed in the commercial development model. Commercial development can consider cooperation with large domestic and international commercial groups to enhance the grade of airport commerce through standardized operations and innovative models. In this regard, a responsible person from the Municipal Planning Bureau also stated that the airport is the most important transportation hub within the Wenzhou metropolitan area, so the functional positioning should still highlight transportation first, with compatible commercial functions added on that basis.

　　In recent years, passenger throughput at Wenzhou Longwan International Airport has been rising year by year. According to statistics, in 2012, Longwan International Airport completed a passenger throughput of 5.637 million person-times. According to the plan, by the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the target for passenger throughput is set at 10 million person-times.

　　"With the increase in passenger throughput and airport expansion, the development of airport commerce will usher in new opportunities," said Xiao Feng. The airport transportation hub complex is a relatively mature transportation system that can accelerate the flow of people, logistics, and information, forming a platform for high-end industry clustering, which plays an important role in accelerating the transformation of Wenzhou's economic development mode.

　　Land-air transfer within 5 minutes

　　The outstanding charm of the Wenzhou Airport Transportation Hub Complex, this "Super Station," is the convenience of transfers for citizens, achieving seamless connection between "land and air" transportation modes, and its core part is the T2 terminal currently under construction.

　　The new terminal building has an area of about 100,000 square meters and includes long-distance passenger stations, rail transit stations, transfer centers, landside elevated roads, and other transportation facilities. "90% of facilities can be shared" is the design goal of the terminal, and transfers between all transportation modes can be completed within 5 minutes, truly achieving "zero transfer."

　　So how do citizens transfer? From the design plan, the reporter saw that the terminal building in the hub's main facilities is interconnected on two levels: the -8-meter underground level and the 4.5-meter mezzanine. All passengers flow and transfer on these two levels. The 4.5-meter transfer mezzanine connects the two garages north and south, and vertically connects commercial development facilities, long-distance bus stations, and rail transit stations; the -8-meter level connects the terminal building with the rail transit station and long-distance bus station in series.

　　For example, if a passenger wants to take rail transit, they only need to take an escalator from the welcome hall to the underground passage to reach the rail transit station; if the passenger wants to go to the parking garage, they can first come to the transfer hall and then take an escalator to the parking garage.

　　Ground-level transportation transfers are also very convenient. For example, if a passenger arrives at the T2 terminal by long-distance bus or rail transit and wants to transfer to a bus or taxi, they only need to take an escalator to the transfer hall and enter the transfer corridor to transfer to a bus or taxi.

　　At the same time, the construction of comprehensive transportation hubs in the western, southern, and northern parts of the city has also been put on the agenda.

　　In July last year, the "Wenzhou Western Comprehensive Transportation Hub Plan" passed expert review. This comprehensive transportation hub mainly relies on Wenzhou South Railway Station, Ouhai Station (freight station), Panqiao Logistics Park, and Panqiao Long-distance Passenger Station as carriers to create a comprehensive hub port for railway and highway travel and a regional logistics center. It will adopt a rapid road network and bus rapid transit system to achieve a 20-minute travel circle within the Ouhai planning area and a 40-minute travel circle within the Wenzhou metropolitan area, driving the rise of the western part of the city.

　　In addition, the planning for comprehensive transportation hubs in the southern and northern parts of the city is under intense study. "Wenzhou will focus on building a three-dimensional transportation network with comprehensive transportation corridors and comprehensive transportation hubs as the main content, around the construction of a national-level comprehensive transportation hub city," said a responsible person from the Municipal Transportation Bureau. Through the construction of comprehensive hubs, the city's transportation resources can be effectively integrated, helping to expand the urban framework.
