The groundbreaking ceremony for the Vietnam Hai Duong 1,200 MW power plant project, invested and built with the participation of Chinese enterprises, was held on the 27th in Hai Duong Province in northern Vietnam. It is reported that this project is so far the largest single investment by Chinese enterprises in Vietnam; once completed, it will alleviate the local power shortage and promote Vietnam's economic development.
The project plans to install two 600 MW subcritical units and four CFB boilers, making it one of the projects with the largest installed capacity in Vietnam. The project is invested and built by China Power Engineering Consulting Group Co., Ltd. (CPECC) and a Malaysian enterprise under the BOT model of "Build—Operate—Transfer", with a total investment of US$1.8685 billion; it will be transferred to the Vietnamese government after a 25-year concession period.
Wang Jianping, Chairman of China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited (China Energy Engineering), the subcontractor for the main construction of the project, said at the groundbreaking ceremony that China Energy Engineering and CPECC promise to carry out the investment and construction work with high standards and high quality, and strive to make the project a premium project.
