At 5:15 on March 24, after more than three hours of continuous pouring by construction workers from the Seventh Company of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, the last pile foundation of the main bridge of the Sulingshan Bridge in Xiangyang was completed. This marks the completion of all 64 pile foundations of the main bridge over water, and the main bridge construction has fully entered the next stage. The Sulingshan Bridge is gradually taking shape amid public anticipation.
Past: Liuliang River   The old Liuliang River Bridge faces Xiangyang East Railway Station across the Tangbai River to the north, and backs onto the Lumen Mountain National Forest Park, where Meng Haoran once lived in seclusion, to the south. It is a key transportation link connecting the ancient town of Dongjin and Xiangzhou District.
  The Liuliang River Bridge once carried a tremendous historical mission. However, due to years of erosion and aging, the bridge has developed multiple defects, its deck is narrow, and its load-bearing capacity has seriously declined.
Present: Under Construction   The Sulingshan Bridge, which officially began construction in August 2015, was built on the basis of the former Liuliang River Bridge. It connects Yuanlin Avenue to the north and Sulingshan Avenue to the south, and is located about 300 meters upstream of the Liuliang River Bridge. With a total length of 1.945 kilometers, the main line crosses Hang Kong Road in bridge form, while the auxiliary roads intersect Hang Kong Road at grade. The bridge is built to the standard of an urban main road with eight lanes in both directions, with a total investment of 1.03 billion yuan and a construction period of 30 months. It is currently under intensive construction.
