On March 7, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission approved the feasibility study report for the Phase I project of Dongguan Urban Rail Transit Line 1, agreeing to the construction of the Phase I project of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1. This marks that the line has completed all project approval procedures and obtained its “birth permit,” and further marks that Dongguan's rail transit has entered a new stage of network construction.
According to the approval by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Phase I project (Wanghong Station to Huangjiang Center Station section) starts from Wanghong Station in the west and ends at Huangjiang Center Station in the east, passing through Wangniudun, Hongmei, Daojiao, Wanjiang, Nancheng, Dongcheng, Dalingshan, Songshan Lake, Dalang, Huangjiang and other towns and subdistricts. Line 1 is the main passenger flow corridor connecting the central urban area, the northwestern area and the southeastern area. The Phase I project has a total length of 58 kilometers, including 25.8 kilometers of elevated line, 30.3 kilometers of underground line and 1.9 kilometers of transition section. The entire line has 21 stations; 1 depot and 1 parking lot; the control center is located at the Xiping network control center.
The entire line has 5 interchange stations: interchange with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Foshan-Dongguan-Huizhou lines at Wanghong Station, cross interchange with Line 2 at Hongfu Road Station, passage interchange with the Dongguan-Huizhou line at Dongchengnan Station, parallel interchange with Line 3 at Songshan Lake Station, and passage interchange with Line 4 at Huangjiang Center Station.
According to the construction plan, the project will be implemented in phases with sections opened in stages. The first section to be built is Wanghong Station-Wetland Park Station, with a length of 45.4 kilometers, and the subsequent section is Wetland Park Station-Huangjiang Center Station.
At present, the project is carrying out survey and design bidding work, striving to start construction by the end of the year.
