Recently, new progress has been made in the preliminary preparation of two rail transit lines in Jinan. With the bid announcement, Lines R2 and R3 will also move into the feasibility study report compilation phase. After the feasibility study report comes the preliminary design, and construction can begin once the design is approved.
The feasibility study report projects for Phase I of Jinan Rail Transit Lines R2 and R3 were tendered at the same time. The winning units have now been determined: The Third Railway Survey and Design Institute Group Corporation is responsible for compiling the feasibility study report for Phase I of Rail Transit Line R2, while China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for compiling the feasibility study report for Phase I of Rail Transit Line R3. The feasibility study report for a rail transit project is generally regarded as an important milestone before the project enters construction preparation. Once the report is approved, the project will begin preliminary design. If the preliminary design is also approved, the project will be ready for construction. Therefore, the entry of the two rail transit lines into the feasibility study report compilation phase means they are one step closer to construction.
According to the previous plan, Line R2 has 14 stations in total, from west to east: Xiaogaozhuang — Yujiazhuang — Jinan West — Cultural Center — West Second Ring — Weishi'er Road — Jinan Station — Shengchan Road Station — Lishan Road — Nanquanfuzhuang — Xizhoujiazhuang — Gongye North Road — Hancang — Guodian.
