Only half a year after handover, floor walls have cracked and the foundation has settled. Recently, multiple owners of Building 1, Zone 1, Houban New Town, Cangshan District, Fuzhou City encountered this situation and are very worried about the building's safety (see: Houban New Town, Cangshan District, Fuzhou: Walls Crack and Foundation Settles Only Half a Year After Handover).

A relevant person from the developer Fuzhou Construction and Development Group responded yesterday that the above problem was caused by uneven compactness of local backfill soil during construction. Although it did not affect structural safety, it caused serious adverse effects on the normal use of the unit's residents. The person said that the company organized participating construction units yesterday to review the design drawings and inspect the site. Upon verification, cracks exist in the outdoor apron, the bathroom partition wall of Unit 101, and the outdoor corner partition wall of Building 1, Zone 1, Houban New Town, while no cracking or settlement has been found in the main structure.

The developer stated that for the backfill soil areas with insufficient compactness exposed by soil compression settlement, the construction unit will be organized in the near future to excavate and compact them, and the cracked partition walls, ground apron and other parts will be rebuilt or cracks repaired in accordance with specification requirements. Regarding the settlement reported by residents, the developer will entrust a qualified unit to conduct settlement monitoring and provide more detailed safety conclusions.
