When Metro Line 1 enters Yanghu Road and Nanxiashu Stations——
2.2 km runs above ground on elevated tracks
101 of 102 piers have been completed
The southern section of the first phase of Changzhou Metro Line 1 adopts an elevated line. Currently, the elevated section has basically completed the construction of piles, caps, and piers, and the next stage will enter the construction of box girders and superstructures.
According to relevant plans, the first phase of Metro Line 1 is about 34 km, starting from Beihai Road Station in the north to Nanxiashu Station in the south. The southernmost section adopts an elevated line, including 2.161 km of elevated track and a 0.19 km transition section from underground to ground. Both Yanghu Road Station and Nanxiashu Station are elevated stations.
Liang Xingfeng, deputy director of the Engineering Department I of the Rail Transit Company, introduced that rail transit projects in suburban areas with less dense buildings and traffic generally adopt elevated lines. First, the project has less impact on geological structures; second, the construction period is shorter, relatively safer, and the cost is advantageous (the cost per kilometer of the elevated section is about 50% of that of the underground section). The elevated line of Changzhou Metro Line 1 adopts a structure similar to road bridges, but the standards refer to railway bridges.
According to reports, the elevated section of Line 1 requires a total of 102 piers. Currently, 101 piers have been demolded and completed on the basis of preliminary pile and cap pouring. The remaining one is affected by pipeline relocation and is expected to be completed in March.

The piers of the metro elevated section have been poured
Stations of Metro Line 1 basically resume normal construction
Of the 102 piers in the elevated section, 101 have been completed
The last pier is expected to be completed in March after pipeline relocation is completed
After the Lantern Festival, most stations of Changzhou Metro Line 1 gradually resumed construction. Among them, the elevated section of Line 1 resumed construction earlier and has basically completed the construction of piles, caps, and piers. The next stage will enter the construction of box girders and superstructures.
The first phase of the city's Metro Line 1 is about 34 km long, with 29 stations in total, including 27 underground stations and 2 elevated stations. In Line 1, the southernmost section adopts an elevated line, including two elevated stations, Yanghu Road Station and Nanxiashu Station. The entire elevated line is 2.161 km long, and the transition section from underground to ground is 0.19 km.
When talking about why an elevated section is set up, Liang Xingfeng, deputy director of the Engineering Department I of the Municipal Rail Transit Company, introduced that although the metro is an urban rail transit system operating underground, in actual construction, part of the line is sometimes laid above ground due to different construction environments. The most common is that elevated lines are adopted in suburban areas where ground buildings and traffic flow are not dense. "First, building elevated lines has less impact on geological structures; second, the construction period is shorter and relatively safer. Compared with the cost of underground stations and underground sections, elevated lines are also relatively economical." It is reported that the appearance of the elevated line of Changzhou Metro Line 1 is similar to road bridge structures, but its construction standards are based on railway bridge standards.

A total of 102 piers are required for the elevated section, and 101 have been completed so far
"The construction of the elevated line generally follows this process: underground pile construction, cap pouring, then ground pier construction and pouring, and then box girder and superstructure construction." Ding Sheng, chief engineer of Shanghai Mechanical Construction Group Co., Ltd., which participates in the project construction, introduced that the entire elevated section requires a total of 102 piers. Currently, 101 piers have been completed. One pier is affected by pipeline relocation and is expected to be completed in March this year. The reporter saw at Yanghu Station and Nanxiashu Station that piers stand in the middle of the road, and a scale has begun to take shape at a glance.
Interestingly, these piers are wrapped in a layer of plastic film "coat", and each column has a yellow sign hanging on it, recording the construction time, completion time, height, and list of construction personnel. Ding Sheng explained that the film is wrapped to cure the poured piers and prevent moisture evaporation from causing concrete cracking.
It is also learned that among the 29 stations along Line 1, except for the pre-built Changzhou Railway Station, the other 28 stations have started construction. Among the north and south advance sections, 3 stations have completed the capping of the main structure, and the remaining underground stations are under main structure construction. As for the elevated stations, the main construction is expected to be basically completed by the end of this year.
