During the Spring Festival holiday, construction workers remained busy at the construction site of the Kunming South Railway Station project, a national key construction project. Throughout the holiday, they stayed at their posts as always.
At the west square construction site of the station, where China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group is undertaking the construction task, pile drivers were roaring, and welders, surveyors, and drillers were busy in an orderly manner. Workers wearing safety helmets, under the direction of technicians, methodically operated the pile drivers. Jiang Jizhong and several fellow workers were surveying a completed pile foundation, while at an adjacent pile point, several workers were moving and installing a pile driver, preparing to construct the next pile foundation.
Jiang Jizhong is from Anhui. When speaking of not being able to go home to be with his family during the Spring Festival, he appeared somewhat regretful. "However, working at the construction site and spending a busy Spring Festival also makes me happy and proud." Hearing what Jiang said, his fellow workers all laughed heartily.
"During the Spring Festival, the Kunming South Railway Station project has been proceeding according to plan. As long as it can be completed on schedule, it is worthwhile for our builders to give up their holidays and work hard," said Wang Jizhong, chief engineer of the Kunming South Railway Station West Square Project Department of China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group.
According to reports, the west square project of Kunming South Railway Station began construction in September last year. Due to the short construction period and complex procedures, all construction workers voluntarily gave up their holiday rest time to race against the clock and make every minute count. On the premise of ensuring safety and quality, the project department worked overtime. As of yesterday, the project department had completed 2,440 pile foundations and 6 base slabs totaling 13,600 square meters, with 50% of the investment completed.
