On December 19, the underground public transportation corridor and supporting projects in the central axis area of Optics Valley Central City broke ground. Once completed, the project will become the world's largest single underground space project and the world's first underground space project that fully integrates nature and architecture, offering the most artistic and comfortable consumer experience. The central city will thus enter a "three-dimensional city" era integrating "above ground and underground, indoor and outdoor, functional layout, and transportation and municipal utilities."

The underground public transportation corridor and supporting projects in the central axis area of Optics Valley Central City have a total construction area of 516,500 square meters and a total investment of approximately 8 billion yuan. The project is located between Gaoxin Avenue and Gaoxin Fifth Road in Optics Valley, mainly constructed along Optics Valley Fifth Road, Shendun First Road, Wangyue Road, and other roads. The spaces are interconnected and will be built in three levels.

Once completed, the underground space will cover nearly 50% of the core area of the central city, and the core area will assume the function of Optics Valley's future "main center." It will bring "China's longest underground space corridor" and become a model for underground space utilization and development in China and even the world.

According to the plan, the project has a construction period of three years and will be built in three phases. Relevant leaders of the East Lake New Technology Development Zone Management Committee introduced that the high-tech zone has focused highly on industry for nearly 30 years since its establishment and has now developed into a national independent innovation demonstration zone gathering 30,000 enterprises and 1.2 million people, covering an area of 518 square kilometers, and steadily ranking among the top three high-tech zones. In 2016, Optics Valley Central City will also start construction of major urban functional projects such as Xinyuexi Park and Optics Valley International Convention and Exhibition Center, accelerating the formation of the central city's international functions and ensuring "gathering in three years, becoming a town in five years, and becoming a city in seven years"!

It is understood that the project is developed and constructed by Optics Valley Central City Construction Investment Co., Ltd. and jointly constructed by China Construction International and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, which are among the most powerful in the domestic construction industry. In recent years, China Construction International and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau have jointly participated in the investment and construction of multiple projects in Wuhan, including Wuxian Highway, Yangtze River Avenue, Wuhan Second Ring Road, and Jianghan Sixth Bridge.
