China Railway Corporation announced on the 19th that China and Thailand will cooperate to build Thailand's first standard-gauge railway. This is another major achievement in the overall export of China's railway industry and technical standards, following the China-Laos railway project. The launching ceremony of the China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project was held on the same day at Chiang Rak Noi Railway Station in Bang Pa-in District, Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.
The China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project includes the construction of the Nong Khai—Nakhon Ratchasima—Kaeng Khoi—Map Ta Phut and Bangkok—Kaeng Khoi railways. The line has a total length of 845 kilometers, a design speed of 180 kilometers per hour, with reserved conditions for upgrading to 250 kilometers per hour, and will fully use Chinese technology, standards, and equipment.
