Reporter: The 3rd National Summit Forum on Pile Foundation Materials and Pile Foundation Design & Construction and the 2014 “Jianhua Engineering Award” Ceremony have attracted attention from both inside and outside the industry. What significance do you think this event holds at this time? What would you like to say to our readers?

 　　Wang Gang: This event is co-hosted by the China Concrete and Cement Products Association, the China Highway and Transportation Society, and Jianhua Building Materials Investment Co., Ltd., and organized by Beijing Jianhua Building Materials Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. The event has received strong support and care from former leaders of housing and urban-rural development, railway, and transportation departments, relevant industry associations, and academicians. We are honored to contribute to the industry. This is also a grand gathering of elites, a major technical exchange, and a showcase of achievements for China's pipe pile industry on the eve of the 13th Five-Year Plan.

 　　Reporter: How do you view China's pipe pile industry under the current economic environment?

 　　Wang Gang: Currently, China's economy has entered a new normal. The development of the building materials industry is constrained by both supply and demand, with capital returns and marginal output declining significantly. The previous extensive development model is unsustainable. The building materials industry must follow a path of green development and innovation-driven transformation and upgrading. Jianhua Building Materials, adhering to the mission of “making buildings safer,” is effectively transforming its development mode and comprehensively advancing the company's strategic structural adjustment.

 　　Reporter: The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee listed “innovative development” as the first of the five development concepts, elevating the innovation-driven development strategy to the national level. As a leading enterprise in the industry, what have you done in terms of technological innovation and progress?

 　　Wang Gang: In addition to adhering to the corporate mission of “making buildings safer,” Jianhua Building Materials has always insisted on promoting development through innovation and seeking survival through innovation. The group invests heavily in research and development each year, learns from advanced international technologies, and has significantly improved its innovation capabilities. The group has cooperated with many well-known domestic universities, design institutes, and research institutes to jointly develop various advanced, high-performance precast concrete products, and has led or participated in many high-level scientific research projects. Many academicians and experts attending this conference strongly support our scientific and technological work. With their support and guidance, we have established our own R&D and innovation platform, hold more than 200 valid patents, and have organized the compilation and revision of dozens of national, industry, and local standards and atlases.

 　　Reporter: On November 18, the State Council held an executive meeting to determine that enterprises should play a principal role, be market-oriented, aim to improve quality and efficiency, launch a batch of major technological upgrading projects, support enterprises in traditional industries such as building materials and steel that have market demand to improve design, processes, equipment, and energy efficiency, effectively reduce costs, and support innovative enterprises and emerging industries. What is your view on the technological upgrading of traditional industries?

 　　Wang Gang: The way out for traditional industries is to achieve product upgrading through technological upgrading. At present, Jianhua Building Materials is actively involved in the field of building industrialization, transforming from a traditional pipe pile manufacturer to a comprehensive service provider of concrete products and technology. Its products have also covered new wall materials, precast concrete bridge piers, stairs, grandstands, jacking pipes, box culverts, and many other varieties, and have been widely used in many national, provincial, and municipal key projects. On May 8 this year, Jianhua Building Materials passed the expert demonstration for the National Housing Industrialization Base, becoming the first in the concrete and cement products industry and the 52nd nationwide national housing industrialization base. In the implementation of the base project, Jianhua Building Materials is concentrating on developing advanced precast concrete component systems, improving the technological content of precast concrete components, promoting and driving the industrialization and commercialization of precast concrete products, and helping China's pipe pile industry strengthen its foundations, improve quality and efficiency, and move toward the mid-to-high end.

 　　Reporter: During the 13th Five-Year Plan period or in the future market, what main directions will Jianhua choose? What are the main target areas in the market?
 　　
 　　Wang Gang: In recent years, China's transportation industry has developed rapidly, and prestressed pipe piles have been vigorously promoted in the transportation field, widely welcomed by owners, construction units, and designers, with promising prospects. At this summit forum, we combined the latest theoretical research results and engineering examples to deeply discuss the application of pipe piles and precast concrete products in the transportation field, aiming to capture more markets in the future. We also hope that the awarding of the Jianhua Engineering Award will not only encourage independent innovation and industry-university-research cooperation in the pipe pile industry but also play an important role in promoting the widespread application of pipe piles and precast concrete products in the transportation field. We hope that more high-level achievements will participate in the application for the “Jianhua Engineering Award” in the future, and we also hope that industry colleagues will work together to make new contributions to the prosperity and development of the pipe pile and precast concrete products industry.
