The foundation construction of Beijing Universal Theme Park is about to start. On November 4, Beijing held a work coordination meeting where China and the US discussed the project advancement plan. Wang Anshun, Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Li Shixiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, presided over the meeting. At the meeting, Thomas Williams, Chairman of Universal Parks & Resorts, and Wu Borui, President of Universal Creative, introduced the overall planning and conceptual design scheme of the Universal Theme Park project. Relevant units such as the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Municipal Planning Commission, the Municipal Transport Commission, and the Tongzhou District Government connected with Universal Group on important issues in project advancement, and further studied and improved supporting policies and support measures.

Wang Anshun pointed out that Beijing Universal Theme Park is a major project supporting the "high-precision and advanced" economic structure and integrating into the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and also a major project to promote stable economic growth and China-US economic cooperation during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. We must deeply understand and grasp the major opportunities of the theme park project, complete all work with a high sense of responsibility and mission, and strive to build a world-class theme park with distinctive features.

Wang Anshun put forward three requirements for project advancement. First, based on the strategic positioning of the capital city, with an attitude of high responsibility for history and culture, adhere to the integration of technological innovation and cultural innovation, focus on expressing the Chinese cultural elements rich in Beijing, a famous historical and cultural city, through high-tech means, and attract tourists to experience and feel the charm of Chinese history and culture; second, focus on coordinated advancement with the construction of Beijing's administrative sub-center, coordinate the relationship between project construction and population, resources, and environment, consider the issues of linkage and coordinated development of all parties, and build the project into a model of coordinated development of population, resources, and environment; third, uphold the concept of mutual benefit and win-win between China and the US, strive to form a new pattern of expanding the opening up of Beijing's service industry in line with international standards, and build the project into an important window to display Beijing's new pattern of opening up. Relevant departments should continuously reform and innovate, broaden their thinking, and according to the time node requirements, ensure project progress and fully promote the early implementation of the project.
