Recently, CRRC released a major contract announcement, in which its wholly-owned subsidiary Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. signed a metro vehicle sales contract totaling approximately RMB 740 million with Guangzhou Metro Group Co., Ltd. This marks the first time CRRC Dalian's metro vehicle products have entered the southern market, moving into the domestic high-end metro market segment. These vehicles will equip Guangzhou's most "lavish" line — Line 13.

It is understood that the Phase I vehicle project of Guangzhou Metro Line 13 is the highest-grade vehicle product procured by Guangzhou Metro to date. The train adopts a Type A aluminum alloy car body structure, with a 6-motor 2-trailer 8-car formation, a maximum operating speed of 100 km/h, overhead catenary power supply, and a maximum capacity of 3,400 passengers per train. According to the contract requirements, the first train is scheduled for delivery in October 2016.

In the Guangzhou Metro network plan, Line 13 is an important transportation hub that crosses the central urban area of Guangzhou and connects the eastern and western parts of the city. It plays an important role in integrating the developing eastern development zone into the citywide transportation network and promoting Guangzhou's metropolitanization process. The technical grade of the Guangzhou Line 13 vehicles is at the top of domestic metro vehicles. The acquisition of this project has enabled Dalian Company to enter the domestic high-end metro market segment and expanded its market space. At the same time, it also plays an important role in promoting the overall strength of Dalian Company's urban rail business, accelerating product structure adjustment, and forming a new pattern of diversified operations.

The metro vehicles developed by Dalian Company are based in Dalian and have successively entered provincial capitals and municipalities directly under the central government such as Shenyang, Tianjin, and Xi'an, serving local passengers with convenient and green travel. In particular, the 100% low-floor modern tram with ground power supply and no overhead catenary has become a focus of attention for people inside and outside the industry. At present, Dalian Company is using the Zhuhai base and the Zhuhai tram project as a bridgehead to continuously enhance its radiation and influence in the rail transit equipment markets of southern coastal cities and Southeast Asia. Previously, relying on its competitive advantage in diversified product design, Dalian Company successively obtained orders for light rail vehicles in the Philippines and metro vehicles in India.
