After the completion of the BeiDou ground-based augmentation system, centimeter or even millimeter-level precise navigation and positioning can be achieved, assisting the development of industries in Thailand such as disaster warning, oil and power, high-speed railways, maritime transportation, smart cities, and precision agriculture.
“We are stepping up our layout in ASEAN countries, especially accelerating cooperation with Thailand. Before 2020, our company will build 220 BeiDou CORS positioning base stations in Thailand,” said Liu Junyi, general manager of Wuhan Optics Valley BeiDou Holdings Group, in a recent interview with a China News Service reporter.
Liu Junyi stated that after the completion of the BeiDou ground-based augmentation system, centimeter or even millimeter-level precise navigation and positioning can be achieved, assisting the development of industries in Thailand such as disaster warning, oil and power, high-speed railways, maritime transportation, smart cities, and precision agriculture.
Currently, as a high-tech industry in China, the BeiDou navigation system has already established a presence in ASEAN countries such as Laos and Cambodia.
In addition to high-tech industries actively laying out in ASEAN, China's traditional advantageous industries are also accelerating cooperation with ASEAN countries. Hu Lei, marketing manager of Sany Heavy Industry (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said in an interview with reporters that due to the launch of the “Belt and Road” construction, infrastructure construction in ASEAN countries is strengthening. Taking Thailand as an example, the China-Thailand railway construction will drive China's equipment manufacturing industry to go global, and Sany Heavy Industry has already tasted the benefits. In the construction of a railway station in Thailand, it obtained an order worth 80 million US dollars.
The Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Expo introduced on the 19th that the 12th China-ASEAN Expo, to be held in mid-to-late September, will also hold a series of China-ASEAN international production capacity cooperation activities for the first time, promoting China's advantageous production capacity to “go global” and cooperate with ASEAN and countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. At that time, high-speed rail-related enterprises such as China Railway Corporation and CRRC Corporation will participate in the exhibition, vigorously promoting cooperation with ASEAN in connectivity construction and high-speed railway projects.
In recent years, more and more of China's advantageous production capacity has accelerated its pace of “going global.” Suwali Pattanawitayakun, director of the Guangzhou Office of the Thailand Board of Investment, recently said at a project matchmaking meeting, “Starting this year, Thailand has implemented the latest investment incentive strategy, with key industries targeted for investment promotion from Chinese enterprises including automobile manufacturing, electronics and electrical appliances, machinery and equipment manufacturing, railway and tram equipment and components, medical devices, and rubber product processing, etc. These are all China's advantageous industries.”
In fact, as the world's second-largest economy, China has become a major industrial country. Since 2009, the total output value of China's equipment manufacturing industry has ranked first in the world for four consecutive years, and the production scale of major industries such as automobiles, ships, machine tools, power generation equipment, and construction machinery all rank among the world's top. In railway equipment, especially high-speed rail, and nuclear power equipment, China already has strong international competitiveness. China's advantageous surplus production capacity going abroad for international production capacity cooperation can not only alleviate China's supply-demand contradictions but also promote the common development of the investment destination countries.
As the forefront and window of China-ASEAN exchange and cooperation, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region utilizes platforms such as the China-ASEAN Expo to increase cooperation with ASEAN countries. China and Malaysia have signed cooperation projects for the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park. Currently, the modern steel project with a total investment of 8 billion yuan in the Kuantan Industrial Park has been signed and started construction.
“China and ASEAN carrying out international production capacity cooperation is mutually advantageous and mutually demanded, and conforms to the common interests of both sides.” In the view of Zhang Xiaoqin, vice chairman of Guangxi Autonomous Region, China's production capacity is a combination of high-end technology and labor cost advantages, with high cost-effectiveness, meeting the needs and undertaking capacity of developing countries such as ASEAN. However, many ASEAN countries still have incomplete industrial systems, and their manufacturing capabilities need to be improved. Through production capacity cooperation, China will help ASEAN countries improve production capacity, perfect industrial systems, accelerate industrialization, and drive employment and economic growth.
At the beginning of this year, Chinese officials deployed proposals to accelerate the “going global” of Chinese equipment such as railways, nuclear power, and building materials production lines, promote international production capacity cooperation, enhance the level of cooperation, and build major equipment and advantageous production capacity into new national “business cards.”
