2012年，长沙县实现工业总产值1654.3亿元，实现规模工业产值1506.7亿元;工业企业缴纳税金58.8亿元;工业占GDP的比重达63.3%;工业对全县经济增长的贡献率达65.1%。近日，长沙县对去年取得突出成绩的一批工业企业进行了表彰。
2012年，在全球经济普遍下行的情况下，长沙县加快了产业转型升级，全力推进新型工业化，做优工业板块、做大产业规模、做实工业项目。通过全面实施“一区带八园”战略，以长沙经开区为龙头，带动周边8个配套园区，加快打造“中国工程机械之都”和“全国汽车产业集群新板块”，工程机械、汽车及零部件、电子信息三大产业分别实现规模工业总产值919.2亿元、190.2亿元和48.4亿元，三大支柱产业产值占全县规模工业总产值的76.8%。
