Construction has begun on the main bridge of the Oujiang Grand Bridge in the Yueqing Bay Port Area. This single-track railway cable-stayed bridge, with a main span of 300 m, is currently the world's largest-span railway concrete cable-stayed bridge. Concrete cable-stayed bridges are recognized as the most technically challenging type of cable-stayed bridge and have long been a hot and difficult research topic in the industry.
　　The Oujiang Grand Bridge is a controlling project of the Yueqing Bay Port Area railway branch line. The main bridge adopts a span arrangement of (52+90+300+90+52) m, a semi-floating system, and carries a single-track medium-live load. The bridge is a twin-tower, twin-cable-plane concrete girder cable-stayed bridge, and the cable towers are diamond-shaped. The main girder adopts a fish-belly concrete box structure, a single-box double-cell constant-depth section, with an overall width of 13 m and a girder depth of 4 m. The stay cables use galvanized parallel steel wires with a tensile strength of 1860 MPa, in a spatial twin-cable-plane system with a fan arrangement.

Facing many difficulties and challenges, such as a lack of design references, high design difficulty, and a short design period, since the preliminary design and construction drawings began in October 2014, the Bridge Division of China Railway assembled an elite design team. The design and related scientific research work for the Oujiang Bridge have been carried out in an orderly manner, meeting the owner's requirements for the start date of the Oujiang Grand Bridge, a controlling project on the entire line, and earning the owner's recognition. The smooth start of construction of the Oujiang main bridge has a positive driving effect on the construction of the entire line and is of key significance for the Yueqing Bay Port Area railway branch line to play its "corridor" role as soon as possible.
