According to the construction unit of the New Dazi Bridge, China Railway No.2 Engineering Group, the New Dazi Bridge project, which connects the G318 National Highway on the south bank of the Lhasa River and the S202 Line on the north bank, has been suspended due to gradually decreasing temperatures. As of the suspension, the New Dazi Bridge construction project has completed 85% of the overall project. It is reported that the New Dazi Bridge is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of July next year, half a year ahead of the expected construction time.
The New Dazi Bridge is located in Dazi County, about 20 kilometers east of Lhasa city, about 400 meters downstream of the original Dazi Suspension Bridge. It connects the G318 National Highway on the south bank of the Lhasa River and the S202 Line on the north bank, using a planar intersection layout and crossing the Lhasa River nearly perpendicularly.
Zhang Zhihua, the person in charge of China Railway No.2 Engineering Group, told reporters that the main structure of the New Dazi Bridge, totaling 52 pile foundations, 19 tie beams, 38 pier columns, and 23 bent caps, has all been completed, accounting for about 85% of the overall project volume. Up to now, only infrastructure such as the bridge deck, road surface, railings, and streetlights have not yet started construction. "According to Zhang Zhihua, due to the cold winter, in order to ensure the construction quality of the new bridge, the construction of the New Dazi Bridge has been temporarily suspended.
"After the weather warms up next year, we will resume construction. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of July next year, nearly half a year shorter than the contract period." He said so.
