Recently, 14 small gantry cranes for above-caisson construction at Pier 28 of the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge were installed in place, creating favorable conditions for accelerating the caisson's mud suction sinking progress.

The caisson at Pier 28 of the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge is an extra-large caisson. To accelerate the mud suction sinking progress of the caisson, 14 small gantry cranes needed to be installed for auxiliary construction. The construction party overcame difficulties such as a shortage of personnel caused by the concrete plant platform construction at Pier 28, and drew elite workers from project teams in other locations. While manufacturing the gantry cranes, they also installed gantry crane runways on the caisson. After more than a month of intensive construction, all the small gantry cranes have now been put into use, meeting on-site operational needs.
