On December 16, the first concrete pour for the first mold of the first hollow thin-walled pier at the Dejiang Project Department of the Second Engineering Company of CCCC Fourth Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. was successfully completed.

The Guizhou Dejiang Project has a total of nine bridges along its entire route. Among them, the substructures of three major bridges—Zengjiaba Bridge, Qimaoba Bridge, and Yaohoutou Bridge—are all designed as constant-section rectangular thin-walled piers, and the piers are relatively tall. Considering the on-site construction conditions and construction difficulty, the thin-walled pier bodies of the above three bridges are all constructed in sections using the slipform method. The sectional slipform construction method works on the principle of using its own hydraulic jacks to enable the slipform truss to climb upward autonomously during construction.

The thin-walled pier constructed this time is Pier No. 12 of Zengjiaba Bridge. The bridge has a total of 9 thin-walled piers, with the tallest pier at 58 m and the shortest at 42.5 m. The cross-sectional dimensions of the pier bodies are all 4.6 m × 3.5 m, and the thin-wall thickness transitions gradually from 100 cm to 50 cm. The outer corners are rounded with a radius of 25 cm, and the four inner corners are chamfered at 0.2 m × 0.2 m. Solid sections of 1 meter are provided at the pier bottom and pier top respectively. The successful pouring of the first mold of concrete for Pier No. 12 thin-walled pier of Zengjiaba Bridge proves the successful implementation of the slipform construction scheme for the project’s bridge thin-walled piers, and also marks that the bridge substructure construction of this project has begun to get on track.
