The authoritative industry report "Development of Foundation Construction Technology and Equipment," compiled by the China Academy of Building Research and the Beijing Research Institute of Construction Mechanization, has recently been released.

The report introduces the history of the development of piling machinery worldwide. After briefly describing how Germany, Italy, and Japan developed advanced piling equipment and construction methods relatively early, and how foundation construction equipment in some European and American countries is also fairly developed, it focuses on the period since entering the21st century. Since the reform and opening up, with the development of China's transportation, energy, and construction industries, the volume of foundation construction has grown substantially. In particular, the construction of high-speed railways ushered in a period of rapid growth for the piling machinery industry.

According to statistics cited in the report from the Piling Machinery Branch of the China Construction Machinery Association, in2002 China's piling machinery products achieved sales of about5 hundred million yuan, with product sales of2000 units. By2011, China's piling machinery products achieved sales of more than8 billion yuan, with product sales of more than6000 units. Sales increased nearly16-fold over10 years, making this the fastest decade of development in the history of China's piling machinery industry. 

When discussing the new type of piling machinery product that is highly favored by users——the vibratory pile hammer——the report highly praises theEP series variable-eccentric-moment vibratory pile hammer jointly developed by Zhenzhong Company and the Beijing Research Institute of Construction Mechanization, calling it the most advanced electric vibratory pile hammer in China and abroad today.

It also notes that theEP series vibratory hammers have been applied in many key projects in China, such as the Shanghai Yangshan Deep-Water Port, the Sutong Bridge, the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, and the Jiangsu Rudong offshore wind farm. In these projects, the large-scale use of this type of vibratory hammer for offshore vibratory compaction sand pile construction achieved excellent economic benefits.

The report speaks highly of theEP series vibratory hammers, stating that they not only meet the needs of foundation construction in China but have also been exported in large quantities to Japan, setting a precedent for China's piling machinery exports to developed countries. TheEP series vibratory hammers won the first prize for scientific and technological progress from the Ministry of Construction in1999. The technology of this series has obtained a national patent and has been recognized as one of the first batch of "Shanghai Independent Innovation Products" and "Shanghai High-Tech Achievement Transformation Projects."
