At 4 p.m. on the 16th, on the Dingziwan section of Furong North Road in Wangcheng District, Changsha, a cement tanker was driving when the road suddenly collapsed, causing the rear half of the vehicle to fall into the pit. Fortunately, the driver was not seriously injured.

The reporter saw that at the junction of Furong North Road and Waimao Road, the entire rear half of a white cement tanker had fallen into a large pit, with the front of the vehicle tilted upward and the front wheels suspended in the air. According to visual estimation, the collapsed area of the road surface was about 25 square meters and about 3 meters deep. At around 9 p.m. that night, the Changsha road administration department dispatched two large cranes to lift the cement tanker out of the pit.

The cement tanker driver, Master Wang, recalled that the vehicle was loaded with 14 cubic meters of cement, and including the vehicle body, it weighed nearly 50 tons. At around 4 p.m. on the day of the incident, as he was driving the cement tanker through this section and preparing to turn, the ground suddenly collapsed, the rear of the vehicle sank into the pit, and the front tilted up and could not move. Although he was startled, fortunately he was not injured.

Currently, the Dingziwan Subdistrict in Wangcheng District is organizing personnel to fill the large pit, which is expected to take 3 days. Staff said that the collapse occurred at the site where Waimao Road connects to the westward expansion and reconstruction of Furong North Road. Due to leakage from underground water pipes and rainwater erosion, the foundation was hollowed out, leading to the collapse.
