Recently, at the east section of Huangshan Avenue (Jiefang Road–Middle Ring Line), the reporter observed a brand-new, clean and spacious two-way six-lane asphalt road with smooth traffic flow. The reporter learned from the Municipal Key Project Construction Management Bureau that the east section of Huangshan Avenue is scheduled for full completion by the end of the year.
The Huangshan Avenue through project started construction on August 10, 2013, and is being built in two sections, east and west, with a total length of about 16 kilometers. The road has two-way six lanes and a design speed of 60 km/h. Following the completion of the main works and opening to traffic of the west section of Huangshan Avenue (Tianhe Road–Donghai Avenue) at the end of July this year, the east section of Huangshan Avenue (excluding the underpass beneath the high-speed rail) was basically completed at the end of August and opened in early September, effectively easing the transit traffic pressure on Donghai Avenue.
It is reported that the east section of Huangshan Avenue is 10 kilometers long in total. The main construction contents include roads, drainage, bridges, traffic engineering, lighting, landscaping, and integrated utility pipelines. At present, apart from the underpass beneath the high-speed rail viaduct section, supporting works such as traffic signals and streetlights are basically complete, and landscaping works are underway. The pile foundations for the underpass beneath the high-speed rail viaduct section have been completed, and beam and slab prefabrication and construction of the bridge substructure are in progress. The entire project is expected to be fully completed by the end of the year.
