On October 30, after 715 days of construction, the Yaohu Grand Bridge, part of the Changzhang Expressway reconstruction and expansion project in Jiangxi Province, was successfully completed and opened to traffic.

The Yaohu Grand Bridge has a total length of 9.1 km and is currently the longest single highway bridge in China. It is also the country's first project to expand a four-lane highway to ten lanes, with a total investment of nearly 800 million yuan and a construction period of 24 months. The First Company of China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., which undertook the heavy responsibility of bridge construction, started the first pile foundation construction in December 2012 and achieved full connection of the bridge on May 30, 2014. It successively achieved impressive results: completing 1,826 pile foundations one month ahead of schedule, completing 6 water piers two months ahead of schedule, completing the erection of 5,274 box girders two months ahead of schedule, and completing the bridge deck system three months ahead of schedule, setting a construction record of 1,180 beam slabs prefabricated and installed in three months.

To ensure rapid construction progress, Chi Rongyi, Executive Director and General Manager of the First Company, and Zhang Xingliu, Party Secretary, visited the site multiple times to provide guidance. The vast number of builders fought against the weather and water, overcoming scorching sun and floods, and conquering freezing ice, snow, and severe cold. During construction, there were no traffic congestion, mandatory traffic diversion, or major responsibility accidents caused by the reconstruction and expansion work. The project received unanimous praise from the Provincial Department of Transportation, the Changzhang Project Office, and the supervision unit. It won the top three in the monthly evaluation of the entire line six times and first place in the stage evaluation twice, receiving cumulative awards of more than 3 million yuan. On October 14, 2014, Qiang Wei, Secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, inspected the Yaohu Grand Bridge project and fully affirmed the project's innovative management model for migrant workers' wages, ensuring "zero arrears" of migrant workers' wages and fulfilling social responsibilities. On October 16, experts and scholars attending the 7th National Highway Reconstruction and Expansion Technology Exchange Conference conducted on-site research on the Yaohu Grand Bridge and pointed out that the experience gained in construction organization and management of the Yaohu Grand Bridge project is worth learning and promoting.

At the symposium on the bridge's opening to traffic, Zhu Xi, Director of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation, spoke highly of the project: China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group has always been closely associated with Jiangxi Province's transportation construction. As a worthy iron army, it has made outstanding contributions to Jiangxi's transportation construction and regional economic development. The transportation professionals of Jiangxi will not forget this, nor will other sectors of Jiangxi Province. Leaders from the Changzhang Expressway Reconstruction and Expansion Project Office of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation, the Provincial Traffic Engineering Quality Supervision Station, the Provincial Traffic Police, and the Highway Administration Corps also spoke and generally praised the achievements in construction quality, safety, environmental protection, efficiency, management, and ensuring smooth traffic and construction.

Jiang Yongjun, Chairman of the Group, stated in his speech at the symposium that the Changzhang Expressway reconstruction and expansion Yaohu Grand Bridge project had a tight schedule, heavy tasks, and great construction difficulty. The First Company of the Group, responsible for construction, consistently adhered to the corporate values of "integrity and innovation forever, quality and character together." With the guidance and support of leaders from the Provincial Department of Transportation, the Project Office, supervision, and design units, it successfully completed all construction tasks and achieved gratifying results. Now that the bridge has been successfully completed and opened to traffic, as a participating unit, we will take this opportunity to strengthen collaboration and communication with all sectors in Jiangxi Province, and make due contributions as China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group to ensure the full opening of the Changzhang Expressway reconstruction and expansion project by the end of the year and to boost the development and upgrading of Jiangxi Province's transportation industry.
